Like the last week, we have another very lesser known monster featured in this week's Weekly Share Your Battle Challenge.
Like Tortisian Fighter, this week's theme monster Gloridax Soldier is also someone with shield ability, less health, melee attack and MANA cost with few armors.

Gloridax Soldier is a Dragon Splinter common monster belonging to Reward cards and the details of the health, attack, speed and armors along with abilities are as below.

Gloridax Soldier is not so well known monster to us battlers, but I am sure it will be after this challenge.
The stats for this monster are as below.

Melee Attack:

The melee attack for this monster starts with minimum and can be a maximum of 3 by level 8 i.e the maximum level for this monster.

Speed:

Speed starts with 2 and can increase by One to be a maximum of 3 from level 6 onwards.

Armors:

The Shield ability combines with the armors it has, makes it more potent when there is no magic attack.
The armors start with 1 and increases to 2 in level 4 and increases to 3 from level 5 onwards.

Health:

This is by far the best part of this monster.
The health starts with minimum of 4 and increases to 5 from level 2 itself and increases to 6, 7 and 8 from levels 4, 6 and 7 respectively.

Along with these stats, let's see it's wonderful abilities which makes it more interesting to use.
It has 3 abilities flying, shield and the new ability oppress.
We know flying gives it an increased chance of evading the attack from melee and magic monsters.
We also know that, shield ability gives an ability of taking lesser damage from melee and magic monsters.
But this new ability Oppress is something different as it enables the Gloridax Soldier to attack with double damage to monsters which doesn't have any attack such as Lord Arianthus, Failed Summoner and all.

Lineup and Battle:

This was another low MANA battle with MANA cap of just 13 and I specifically used this to use Gloridax Soldier at the top and this worked well for me.
I went with Daria Dragonscale summoner to get an additional melee attack to Gloridax Soldier and other melee monsters.
The lineup I used for this low MANA battle was as below:

1. Gloridax Soldier:

image.png

Used this at the top for it's abilities of flying and shield along with it's armors.
Increased melee attack (increased to 3 because of Daria Dragonscale summoner and inspired by Brownie) made it more attacking and it justified the inclusion at the top.

2. Brownie:

Used it specifically for inspire ability and it's swiftness ability to increase the speed of monsters was another plus for this battle.

3. Screeching Vulture:

If you see my battle log, this will be there whenever it's usable in battles. I am a big fan of this monster.
Used it in this battle because of low MANA I just assumed that, there will be few low health monsters and I can target those.
Eventually, this was the one who helped more than Gloridax Soldier to win this battle.

4. Furious Chicken:

This no MANA cost monster I used because there wasn't any MANA left and it served it's purpose by taking a blow from a sneak monster opponent had used and saved the Screeching Vulture getting exposed in round One itself.

That is about the lineup I used. Opponent had different ideas with usage of Fire Splinter and lined up monsters in the order of Lord Arianthus, Furious Chicken, Elven Cutthroat and Kobold Miner.

Battle:

Round 1:

Like I said many times earlier and you might have also experienced, low MANA battles always gets trickier and interesting and this wasn't different as lesser known Gloridax Soldier was up against ever popular Lord Arianthus
Opponent's 2 sneak monsters were a worry for me, but the miss hit from Kobold Miner after Elven Cutthroat taking out Furious Chicken gave a sigh of relief for me as Screeching Vulture survived to take it further and win the battle for me.
There was one monster loss from each side in this round and it's the same monster Furious Chicken.
Meanwhile, Gloridax Soldier with 3 melee attack, was able to damage Lord Arianthus by reducing it's health by 2.

Round 2:

Screeching Vulture speeder than all other monsters, attacked first in this round to take out Elven Cutthroat and with Kobold Miner again missing to hit Screeching Vulture, no further casualties in this round and Gloridax Soldier continued taking down the health of Lord Arianthus

image.png

Round 3:

Since Lord Arianthus's health now was lesser than Kobold Miner, Screeching Vulture attacked it in addition to Gloridax Soldiers attack to take down Lord Arianthus and making Kobold Miner as last standing monster.

image.png

Round 4:

One iteration was enough in this round to remove 4 health Kobold Miner and Screeching Vulture with it's superior speed, was able to do that.

Ah, like I said, low MANA battles always interesting just like low scoring Cricket matches are, and it was a nice one is what I felt.

Time for Questions and Answers as part of this Challenge:

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

Well, I have to say, I am not a big fan of low MANA battles as most of the time, I end up on losing side.
But, this one was not like that and I can say confidently that, Yes, my strategy worked well with the lineup I used.
What I could have differently? I can't say really, because, the monsters I used, did their work as expected including the no MANA furious Chicken. So, no comments on this.

Do I use the GLORIDAX SOLDIER often? Why or why not?

Nope, this being a newly introduced monster, I haven't used this much before I tried using it for this challenge.
But, I can say, I will use it more and more in low MANA battles when the magic monsters are barred from participation.

Yep, agree with you.

If one of those 2 missed hits from Kobold Miner was not missed, I would have gotten into trouble as Screeching Vulture was instrumental in winning that battle for me :)

But, an ability(flying) bestowed on a card was put into use and saved me :)

Good Night my friend :)

Thanks for sharing! - @cornavirus

That was a nice battle and the ability for Glordiax Soldier to take down such a big tank as Lord A tells us that it is not completely used as just a tank but can also be an attacker! I also love how you focused on the Glordiax Soldier's stats!
