Hello Friends,

The days are moving and we keep battling everyday like sun brings out the light to earth everyday and we also keep writing One or Two blogs for the Weekly Challenge of sharing the battle as part of this weekly challenge.
I personally like the Death Splinter as one of the for me since I do win many battles with that and one of the cards I use regularly is Soulstorm along with Lord of Darkness, Corrupted Pegasus and Dark Ha'On and happy to see that card is getting featured in this week's challenge.

Soulstorm is an Untamed category Death Splinter Epic monster which is of ranged attack type and is one of the most used Death Splinter monsters.
Best known for it's speed and attack although a bit weak on health side.
Let's see in detail about the statistics for this monster along with nice abilities it has:

image.png

The details we can see from above screenshot, clearly shows the good thing being it's speed of 5 makes it among the early monsters to attack and it's 3 ranged attack is good enough to shake the front monster although the 2 health may not be enough, but, it's flying ability available from level 1 makes it bit evading the melee and ranged attacks.
Besides the flying, it also has abilities of snare (removing flying ability of the monster it attacks), headwinds (reduces the ranged attack by 1) and stun available at level 6.

Lineup and Battle:

The battle being a Heavy Hitters and Taking Sides enabling only non neutral monsters to be used in battle.
Accordingly, I used the lineup as below. Mind you, Death Splinter is my most favorite right now :).

1. Lord of Darkness:

image.png

Heavy Hitters ruleset means, this monster will be there at the front in my lineup as this boats a Stun ability and the monster which gets stunned, will have to bear double attack from all the monsters.
Another factor which prompts me to use this is it's armors and shield along with enrage abilities.

2. Corrupted Pegasus:

image.png

Being a Healer and Reach ability monster, I always use this in second position to ensure it attacks and also heals front monster.
Not to forget it's abilities of flying and strengthen as the most useful ones for itself and other monsters.

3. Shadowy Presence:

image.png

I used this just to cover the remaining 1 MANA cost after placing the monsters of my choice.

4. Soulstorm:

image.png

Theme monster and one of my favorite for all it's abilities and speed and attack.

5. Octopider:

image.png

Whenever the MANA cost can accommodate this, I always use it simply because, it has 4 ranged attack, 4 speed, 8 health and most importantly, it boasts a Demoralize ability to reduce melee attack.

6. Dark Ha'On:

image.png

I have been using this monster more as a attack divert monster than actual attacker as that enables me to Lord of Darkness to keep finishing the front monsters and all of opponent's monsters keep targeting this Dark Ha'On and believe me, I have been very successful in winning the battles with this combo of Lord of Darkness, Corrupted Pegasus, Octopider and Dark Ha'On with couple of other monsters.

With that lineup, I was feeling happy until I saw the lineup from opponent comprising of Earth Splinter monsters in Flesh Golem, Orc Sergeant, Kron The Undying, Magi of the Forest, Spirit of the Forest and Wood Nymph.

Mere presence of 2 Tank Healers along with self healing Flesh Golem with good supporting monsters made me feel that, I may not cross the line with this battle. But, it went the other way.

Battle:

I had a combined attack of 14 (with Dark Ha'On not attacking) as against 15 attack from opponent.
Here we go with the battle:

Round 1:

All of opponent's monsters were taunted by Dark Ha'On and they kept attacking it and the monsters on my side kept attacking Flesh Golem reducing it's health, but presence of 2 healers made it to regain the health to 11 by end of round 1.

image.png

Round 2:

But,the Flesh Golem wasn't that fortunate to survive in second round and became the first monster to be removed.
Dark Ha'On's health as well got reduced to 2 as it constantly got attacked without healing

image.png

Round 3:

Dark Ha'On was the first to be removed in this round as it had just 2 health at the end of previous round and Orc Sergeant was the next to go for opponent stunned by Lord of Darkness and all other monsters combined to remove it.

image.png

Round 4:

With removal of Dark Ha'On, focus of attack for opponent's monsters shifted towards Lord of Darkness and it couldn't bear all the attack to get removed in this round and opponent lost Kron The Undying.

image.png

Round 5:

Just as the Magi of the Forest was threatening to swept the battle away from me, it got removed by combination of Corrupted Pegasus, Soulstorm and Octopider and that was a big relief for me.

image.png

Round 6 and 7:

With Spirit of the Forest moving to the front, it was just Wood Nymph to attack with it's 2 attack.
Spirit of the Forest got removed although it kept healing itself and even Wood Nymph also healing it.

image.png

Round 8:

The final nail in opponent's coffin was hit with removal of Wood Nymph, but I would say it was a win for me from the jaws of the defeat as the opponent's monsters kept losing at the right time to give a win for me.

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

Well, the win from the border of defeat means, I will have to re-think about the combination I used, but still, I got a win and I still feel the strategy did work as intended.
What I could have tried for a more bit easier win would be to use Phantom Soldier instead of Octopider to reduce the magic power as opponent had 3 magic monsters.

Do I use SOULSTORM often? Why or why not?

I use it in almost all the battles simply because of it's attack and speed along with it's flying ability.

Line.jpg

That is all I could write about this battle. Soulstorm is good to have in any battle and when leveled up, it can be even more destructive with stun and headwinds not yet in the one I have.
Thanks for reading this, I hope you appreciate the battle.

Good day to you all :)

Great victory against a seemingly better powered opponent.

You really should level that up, the next two abilities are the best!

Yeah, opponent had better monsters, but it's that diverting lineup using Dark Ha'On which fixed it.

I agree about leveling up Soulstorm, will do it at the earliest :)

Have a good day my friend :)

Thank you, the lineup from both sides was good and getting a victory was sweeter against that stronger lineup. :)

Hello Fellow #HIVE Owner @coolguy123,

Read the complete battle. Enjoyed it and got the feel as if I played myself and won the battle!

Regarding your question whether to use Soulstorm often, my answer is a DISTINCT YES!

"Besides the flying, it also has abilities of snare (removing flying ability of the monster it attacks), headwinds (reduces the ranged attack by 1) and stun available at level 6."

That Snare quality of Soulstorm took my mind by Storm as this quality of this theme monster is really very impressive.

Hope you are enjoying a great weekend, Buddy!

Bye for now.

Catch you soon.

Thank you my friend.

Splinterlands is just like drugs for me, I am totally addicted to that!!!

Soulstorm is one of the good cards to use for it's speed and abilities and also the ranged attack it gives.
