Mountains submerged by clouds.

So lovely to see the clouds resting on the mountains.
040.jpg

Come and sit here to watch a play about Mother nature and her amazing ways.
The main actors in the play are the clouds and the mountains.

045.jpg

Our part of the country is a winter rainfall area and our winter ended officially on the 31st of August.
But now we have passed through a wet Spring season and a wet December. So yes very strange weather that we are having here, but I know that it is the same worldwide.
218.jpg

Can you see the big white cloud that looks like a worm crawling along the top of the mountain?
240.jpg

Well that worm cloud ate too much and here he has dropped off the top of the mountain.
297.jpg

Finally just another storm cloud on it's way to shed it's load inland beyond the mountains.
246.jpg

And have we seen miracles here?
Oh yes, farmers crying, dancing and praying about the 5 year drought in their area that was ended in only one week. Their dry dams are full and the rivers are once again running at full flow.
Yet there are still other parts of the country that have even longer droughts and they are still as dry as a cork.
We pray that they will also soon have some soaking rains.

Hope that you have enjoyed the post and may this New Year be filled with blessings for everyone.

And That's All Friends.

Those are the real beauty of nature. It is amazing to see clouds and mountains in the mountains like this. These scenes are always fascinating to watch. You have painted the scenes in a very beautiful way.

Oh yes and I love to sit and watch the changes as the clouds stream along.
Thank you.

Clouds look gorgeous draped over the mountain creating different moods.

Thunder storms predicted here tonight with rain on Friday 31st hopefully all night to damped the fireworks into submission this year again. 😆

They do indeed have a very alluring look to them Lady Joan.

Glad for the animals and the elderly people and so many others that are disturbed by noise and the flashes.

Feel the mood of mountains, I am surprised not many thunder storms in there, changing all the time one can quietly sit and appreciate watching the world.

Oh yes nothing like that mood Lady Joan.
The strong winds are shipping huge tranches of clouds over the mountains inland all the way to Gauteng.
They opened two sluice gates of the overfull Vaal dam and the people below the wall are scared that they will open all the gates like the flood in 2011 that we were trapped in.
Had they opened one gate regularly over the preceding months this would not have happened.

But one never knows if the rain will not suddenly stop and the drought has scared many people to be ultra careful.
Such is life.

At long last many dams are able to open gates and was the build up of crap that has accumulated over the years, sadly beaches will be hit again with all the filth floating down!

Gorgeous rain arrived last night, inland have taken a hit with storms once again, perhaps a wake up call for all to live a cleaner life, not live close the reclaimed land or rivers that grow.,... do they ever?

Port Elizabeth region still in drought conditions.

Oh yes, I saw in the flood of 2011 what came past us in the Vaal river. All kinds of rubbish.

Glad that you guys got rain and I hope more to come as we still have clouds here streaming over.
Those storms we well know and I simply cannot understand why a law is not promulgated to ban all developments within 500 meters from any river banks.
But then again, who will enforce the law?

PE and parts of the Karroo my friend. I read a harrowing report in Daily Maverick about the 15 year drought in the Karroo.

Waterways should all have 1km boundary both sides clear 'no mans land' where nature is allowed to grow. Raised boardwalks could be implemented into surroundings to allow visiting or good gravel paths to walk on.

Wetlands need urgent attention to be brought back, not filled in and built on, we will see far worse flooding in coming years if nature is not let back in to maintain region.

I actually have no concern for stupid people rich and poor building on river banks, it is their choice, when swept away don't cry.

Droughts have been devastating, flooding always happens when rains arrive, Karroo and PE rainfall end of 2021 was reasonably good, perhaps not enough but hopefully enough to survive.

Would even be better if 1 km boundaries are set, but an empty dream as the shacks of the newcomers grow like mushrooms.

Wetlands were all no go areas by law, but money can change any law.

Not enough in the Karroo and the hard baked earth made all of the bit that they got run away.

Overwhelmed with too many to quick, if building on rivers is allowed backlash of storms must be accepted condition in wash away.

Rulers/laws are all dogs without teeth!

I would like to know the total cost of evacuating the people on the river banks every years.
Remember that it is a circle production, as once people are rescued, then as soon as the river subsides others move into the same shacks. The next flood they also have to be evacuated and then ... !

Almost as if nobody cares anymore.

Really great photos of the mountains and clouds. We went back to our hometown in New Jersey and had heavy fog that cut off mountain tops from view. Lots of funny weather here, we had a hailstorm that came out of nowhere and pelted everything with frozen ice balls, it was so loud.

So glad about the rain finally ending the drought there. I will thank God and mother nature for the kindness. Now we pray for the others to receive the rain also.

Blessings to all!

Happy New Year!!

Wow! I typed a long reply and for some reason it has disappeared. But let me try again.

The weather is crazy all over and funny that you should mention hail, as we had one of our towns here almost wiped out by hailstones as big as tennis balls.
I was once driving along a freeway and all of a sudden a big hail stone smashed the front windscreen of my car. It sounded like a gunshot, and luckily I could find a bridge to park underneath, but by then damage was already done to the car's roof and bodywork.

The droughts in some areas are really worrying, as a 15 to 18 year stretch of drought can really take it out of anyone. Yet, the farmers in the drought-stricken areas and their laborers are hardy people and they gather every morning and every night in steadfast prayer.
The problem is that some of the lands were baked so hard by the sun, that whenever water comes down it cannot penetrate the soil and it simply runs away.

Thank you for joining us in praying about the situation and also for your kind wishes Lady Robin.

We also hope that the new year will be kind to all of you over there.

!LUV

Ps. I love that gif that you sent.

After some wet months, it's a wonderful show to see the clouds (and the rain) ^^ Even if here the Winter is just started, we had a wed Spring and a very wet Summer and I remember how much we were happy to see some clouds on the sky after months. ^^

Thank you Lady Silvia and yes, rain is always welcome.
We are not supposed to get rain in summer, as we only get rain in winter, but the weather has changed and now in summer we still get rain.
The farmers here are also happy to see the clouds.

Oh yeah, I know Hannes as an Austrian mountain goat's first love are mountains 🤣

We were so happy for the farmers that saw that miracle, but in some other dry areas the ground was bake very hard over the dry years and when it rains there the water cannot penetrate the ground and simply runs away. A real sad story, especially as there are carcasses of dead animals laying around baking in the sun.

Cheers and thanks.

Thousand of hectares of dry baked ground. They don't farm in the soil as it grows natural vegetation for the animals to eat. The problem is that the little hardy bushes are also dead. I saw a picture of many white dead tortoise shells near a dam with no water.
A very sad story.

Cheers and thanks.

Very sad indeed, but maybe the climate change will change that too after some time. I would not know another solution.

I think that they will have to find a way to dam the water somehow. Once that they have a bid dam, then the water can be used to gradually soften the ground enough for new growth.
But I don't know if a dam could be built over there.

Only soft sustainable rain could perhaps rectify the situation, but they do not get it.

Cheers and thanks.

Either they don't get it or they don't want to get it - that would be a working solution.

Yes, it could be a possible solution as I am always on about new dams being built, but nobody listens.
We are in a water scarce country and most everybody is sinking boreholes.
Eventually it will drain the underground water tables and new dams can fill them up.

Cheers and thanks.

Either some people are somehow making good money with the dry land or for some reason nobody is interested in investing money to build dams.

I really don't know what the story behind this is my friend, but it just doesn't make sense to me.
The lack of electrical generation should also have been resolved many years ago, but it seems that all things must first be totally bad before people wake up to do something.

Cheers and thanks.

There must be more behind, but that's only my speculative mind, although there might certainly be some conspiracy theories around.

Nope, I never read conspiracy theories, as it is only person's personal opinions and never facts. Some even make videos and quote the opinions of others to try and sound convincing.
Many things are going on here that are kept in the dark, but sooner or later it all comes out to shock the nation.
Just the way of truth my friend.

Cheers and thanks.

I sometimes like to read such stupidity or even watch YouTube videos, but just to wonder again and again how stupid some people are.

Maybe the next shock when the truth comes ou twill be positive 👍

Oh my, that is so lovely to see! The drought here in Cape Town was terrible. It's so lovely to have had good rain this winter. It was heartbreaking watching all the wetlands in our area run dry.

Thank you and yes, the drought was really bad news and thankfully it is over for now. I so wish that they will build new dams to catch the tons of water that runs into the ocean.
Sadly the Karroo still have many drought areas.
