⁣ Passion is a feeling that arises unexpectedly and surprises those affected. Passion simply leaves us euphoric: it is a mixture of intense emotions and is accompanied by a strong motivation to get closer to the other person. Passion is not premeditated, it is practically instinctive, simply
happens. ⁣
This feeling provokes an intense motivation to keep going, along with the perseverance necessary to overcome obstacles and frustrations that we normally encounter sooner or later when interacting with another person.

Much research on passion distinguishes between a positive form called "harmonious passion" and a harmful form called "obsessive passion."

Harmonious passion is freely chosen for the pleasure that comes from relating to the other person and is continued over time for other activities, rather than filling it all day. ⁣

⁣ The Obsessive passion often accompanies the need to want to please another person and can become uncontrollable, controlling a person's life, filling the entire day. In obsessive passion, not being able to keep in touch with the other person, whether due to work, study, or other obligations, can lead to anxiety, feelings of guilt, and decreased self-esteem.
It is similar to addiction and can cause a feeling of exhaustion.

The main difference between passion and love is that passion is ephemeral and is directly related to attraction (physical, sentimental or some other characteristic that we like) - it is the famous "chemistry". This means that if we are no longer attracted to the person, we are no longer in love. And that's its main side effect: passion is a transitory state that is likely to go away after a while (usually less than two years).

If the other person has learned to love us, that is, to meet our emotional needs, we will be happy, as if nothing had changed. Otherwise, little by little we begin to feel a bitter taste that can accompany a feeling of unhappiness.
⁣ The Passion is not a substitute for love.
