Holaa, hermosa y creativa comunidad, estoy de nuevo por aquí para compartir en este fabuloso Concurso semanal, cuya temática para esta ocasión es Wire world y que ha sido todo un reto para mí. Las pocas veces que he trabajado con este material ha sido con el alambre de floristería y ya sabemos que casi nunca es protagonista en la labor. Pero, siempre he pensado que es mejor intentar hacer las cosas a no hacer nada. Así que me dispuse a revisar en la web para ver manualidades hechas con este material y allí encontré mi inspiración. Recientemente, mi mamá me preguntaba qué iba a hacer para la misa que anualmente ofrecemos por el recuerdo de mi hermano, quien falleció el 18 de octubre de 2017. Este año se cumplen 4 años de aquel día que hubiera querido eliminar del calendario. Así que cuando vi estas ideas, de inmediato, decidí que haría velitas decoradas para regalar a nuestros afectos y a quienes nos acompañan ese día. Las velas simbolizan la luz y su llama encendida es para elevar nuestras plegarias por el descanso de su alma.
Así pues, comparto con ustedes este proyecto que tiene un propósito muy personal, y que lleva la huella de mi amor.
Hello, beautiful and creative community, I'm here again to share in this fabulous Weekly contest, whose theme for this occasion is Wire world and that has been a challenge for me. The few times I have worked with this material has been with florist wire and we know that it is almost never the protagonist in the work. But, I've always thought it's better to try to do things than to do nothing. So, I set out to check the web for crafts made with this material and there I found my inspiration. Recently, my mom was asking me what I was going to do for the mass we annually offer for the memory of my brother, who passed away on October 18, 2017. This year marks 4 years since that day that I would have liked to remove from the calendar. So when I saw these ideas, right away, I decided that I would make decorated candles to give to our loved ones and those who are with us on that day. Candles symbolize light and their lit flame is to raise our prayers for the repose of their soul.
So, I share with you this project that has a very personal purpose, and that bears the imprint of my love.

Como les comenté arriba, nunca he hecho manualidades con alambre, así que no tengo en mi haber las herramientas necesarias y el alambre que usé se lo pedí a mi esposo que lo reciclo de unos cables y repuestos de radios que teníamos guardados. Con eso y con muchas ganas y dedicación me puse manos a la obra.
Tenía dos tipos de alambre, uno grueso con el que hice el aro que pondría alrededor de la vela y el otro, más delgado, con el que hice ramitos de flores para enrollar por todo el aro y decorarlo.
- Lo primero que hice fue cortar el alambre delgado en pedazos de 20cms.
- Para darle forma a los ramitos, usé 8 pedacitos, enrollé hasta la mitad y luego separé 4 de cada lado.
- En un palillo, fui enrollando el alambre delgado para hacer como un resorte y, a partir de allí, le fui dando forma a lo que serían los pétalos para las florecitas.
As I mentioned above, I have never made crafts with wire, so I don't have the necessary tools and the wire I used I asked my husband who recycled it from some cables and spare parts of radios that we had saved. With that and with a lot of desire and dedication I got down to work.
I had two types of wire, a thick one with which I made the hoop that I would put around the candle and the other, thinner, with which I made sprigs of flowers to wrap around the hoop and decorate it.
- The first thing I did was to cut the thin wire in pieces of 20cms.
- To shape the twigs, I used 8 pieces, rolled them up to the middle, and then separated 4 on each side.
- On a toothpick, I rolled the thin wire to make a spring, and, from there, I gave shape to what would be the petals for the little flowers.
- Con el alambre más grueso, hice el aro para adornarlo con las florecitas.
- A las flores les puse medias perlitas en el centro como adorno final.
- With the thicker wire, I made the hoop to decorate it with the little flowers.
- I put half pearls in the center of the flowers as a final decoration.
- Hice dos aros para adornar dos velitas y para la blanca le puse una base de foamy azul para que el detalle con las flores resaltara.
- I made two rings to decorate two candles and for the white one, I put a blue foamy base so that the detail with the flowers would stand out.
Aunque no tengo la técnica ni las herramientas para trabajar con este material, me gustó intentarlo, y el resultado me encantó. Así que haré más velitas decoradas para la misa de mi hermano.
Although I don't have the technique or the tools to work with this material, I liked to try it, and I loved the result. So I will make more decorated candles for my brother's mass.
