I have seen this piece on pinterest (You can see it here) while wandering through the amount of images with optical illusions, but this specific one caught my attention, so I decided to recreate it and make a little animation with it so you can appreciate how these shapes play with our mind and make us see things that were never really there... or on the contrary... they were always there but our perception never let us observe them.

Esta pieza la he visto en pinterest (La pueden observar acá) mientras vagaba por la cantidad de imágenes con ilusiones ópticas, pero está en específico llamo mi atención, así que decidí recrearla y hacer una pequeña animación con ella para que puedas apreciar cómo estas formas juegan con nuestra mente y nos hacen ver cosas que realmente nunca estuvieron… o por el contrario… siempre estuvieron pero nuestra percepción jamás nos la dejo observar.

The first thing I did was to start Adobe illustrator and start using the line tool, with these I could build all the lines that intertwine in the image and give us that feeling, then with "search strokes" I was defining the pieces that would be whole and finally I proceeded to add gradients in such a way to give that illusion to the shape.

Lo primero que hice fue iniciar el Adobe illustrator y comenzar a utilizar la herramienta de líneas, con estas pude armar todas las líneas que se entrelazan en la imagen y nos dan esa sensación, luego con “busca trazos” fui definiendo las piezas que estarían enteras y por ultimo procedí a agregar degradados de tal forma que dieran esa ilusión a la forma.

For the animation I used After Effects and gave a few twists to the pyramid pieces separately and then brought them closer to give that feeling of union, as I had a layer with the cube separately, I applied it after the three pyramids are joined and made it grow to further define the shape of the cube that is hidden.

Para la animación utilice el After Effects y le di unos cuantos giros a las piezas piramidales por separado y luego las acerque para dar esa sensación de unión, como tenía una capa con el cubo por separado, la aplique luego que se unen las tres pirámides e hice que creciera para definir más la forma de cubo que se esconde.
