Drawing Arturo Vidal in grayscale

Very good morning dear readers, I hope you are very very well, today I bring you a small grayscale illustration that I made the other day on Arturo Vidal which is a recognized Chilean soccer player, which in my opinion is one of the best players that has come out of South America in recent years, I made this drawing to continue practicing a little more in this style of drawing grays, today I want to share with you a little of the process of realization so that you can appreciate it:

Muy buen día queridos lectores, espero se encuentren muy muy bien, hoy les traigo una pequeña ilustración a escala de grises que realice el otro día sobre Arturo Vidal el cual es un reconocido futbolista Chileno, que en mi opinión es uno de los mejores jugadores que ha salido de Sudamérica en los últimos años, realice este dibujo para seguir practicando un poco más en este estilo de dibujo de grises, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un poco el proceso de realización para que puedan apreciarlo:

PROCESS / PROCESO

I started sketching everything little by little looking at the reference image a little bit to take care of the small details like in the uniform for example, then with the features more or less established I proceeded to outline everything very very well to paint it much better.

Inicie bocetando todo poco a poco mirando la imagen referencial un poco para cuidar los pequeños detalles como en el uniforme por ejemplo, luego con las facciones más o menos establecidas allí si procedí delinear todo muy muy bien para pintarlo mucho mejor.

I started applying colors one by one to give shape to everything, for the skin I applied a base gray a little dark and then I was giving details to the face, such as the nose, cheekbones, ears and others, try to give good volume to the whole face.

Comencé a aplicar colores uno a uno para darle forma a todo, para la piel aplique un gris base un poco oscuro y posteriormente le fui dando detalles al rostro, como por ejemplo en la nariz, pómulos, orejas y demás, trate de darle buen volumen a todo el rostro.

Detail the eyes a little bit in a very very dark gray, but not so much because for the inner details of the eye I need a much darker shade of gray afterwards.

Detalle un poco los ojos en un gris muy muy oscuro, pero no tanta pues para los detalles internos del ojo necesite un tono de gris mucho más oscuro después.

For the jacket that Vidal wears in this drawing I wanted to use a medium gray tone, with a tendency to lightness because I thought it would look better that way, then I was giving details to the jacket such as some wrinkles or folds, for this I used a variation of gray shades between light and dark to achieve a little more relief in the clothes.

Para la chaqueta que lleva Vidal en este dibujo quise utilizar un tono gris medio, con tendencia a la claridad pues me pareció que se vería mejor así, luego fui dándoles detalles a la chaqueta como por ejemplo algunas arrugas o pliegues, para esto emplee una variación de tonalidades grises entre claras y oscuras para lograr un poco mas de relieve en la ropa.

As many of you may know a characteristic feature of Arturo Vidal is his hairstyle in the shape of a crest, it is a hairstyle that he has maintained for many years, first I painted the base of the hair with a very very dark gray, then with a thin and soft brush I added a little darker strands to give shape to the hairstyle and above all to add some shadows, then with a brush similar to the previous one but a little flatter and thinner I added light strands, I did this to give good volume to the hair before blurring a little, I also did the same with the beard too.

Llegamos al cabello que fue la parte que mas me gusto pintar, como muchos sabrán un rasgo característico de Arturo Vidal es su peinado en forma de cresta, es un peinado que ha mantenido desde hace muchos años, primero pinte la base del cabello con un gris muy muy oscuro, luego con un pincel delgado y algo suave fui añadiendo mechones un poco más oscuros para darle forma al peinado y sobre todo para agregar algunas sombras, luego con un pincel parecido al anterior pero un poco mas plano y mas delgado fui añadiendo mechones claros, hice esto para darle buen volumen al cabello antes de difuminar un poco, además hice lo mismo con la barba también.

For the background I wanted to make some waves with the airbrush in a variation of medium gray tones, I painted these waves which intertwined with each other and then I blurred them a little, then I painted again on these blurred lines with another variation of gray, I did this process a couple of times more and thus achieved the desired background, and finally I added some final details in shadows and additional brightness to complement the drawing a little and I really liked how they were.

Para el fondo quise realizar algunas ondas con el pincel aerógrafo en variación de tonalidades grises medias, pinte estas ondas las cuales entrelace entre si y luego las difumine un poco, luego volví a pintar sobre esa líneas difuminadas con otra variación de grises, realice este proceso un par de veces más y así logra el fondo deseado, y por ultimo agregue unos últimos detalles en sombras y brillos adicionales para complementar un poco el dibujo y la verdad me gusto como quedaron.
