This is my new entry to the wonderful contest of the Insects of the World community, sponsored and made by @adalger and these contests I consider them as very beautiful and unique I like that adrenaline while I take the pictures to the insects with peculiar, beautiful and curious qualities. So if you want to know more, you better not go away, as this new insect I will tell you about is amazing, but it was also sad to me as it was agonizing because of a blow that a bird gave it to try to eat it !

Esta es mi nueva entrada al maravilloso concurso de la comunidad de Insectos del Mundo, patrocinado y realizado por @adalger y estos concursos los considero como muy hermosos y únicos me gusta esa adrenalina mientras tomo las fotos a los insectos con cualidades peculiares, hermosas y curiosas. ¡Así que si queréis saber más, mejor no os vayáis, ya que este nuevo insecto del que os hablaré es increíble, pero también me dio pena ya que agonizó por un golpe que le dio un pájaro para intentar comérselo!

The Anax junius is from the large family of the Aeshnidae, native to North America and distributed in some places in the areas of Central America and the Caribbean islands. The species of this beautiful insect is odonate anisoptera ("odonate" refers to those insects that currently there are about 6000 species and is known by the name of dragonfly or damselfly / anisoptera is called so to cover the entire family of odonates). The most common name given to this insect just by seeing it is Dragonfly, but that is not the name of this Anax Junius, the real name would be green dragonfly or June dragonfly.

El Anax junius es de la gran familia de los Aeshnidae, originarios de América del Norte y distribuidos en algunos lugares de las zonas de América Central y de las islas del Caribe. La especie de este hermoso insecto es de él odonato anisóptero (“odonato” se refiere a aquellos insectos que actualmente hay unas 6000 especies y se le conoce por el nombre de libélula o caballito del diablo/ anisóptero se le dice así para abarcar a toda la familia de los odonatos.). El nombre más común que se le pone a este insecto con solo verlo es Libélula, pero ese no es el nombre de este Anax Junius, el verdadero nombre sería libélula verde o libélula de junio.

Curious fact: All dragonflies including the "Green Dragonfly" breathe through the anus, and this has helped it to move much faster aerially and to escape from its fearsome predators.

Dato curioso: Todas las libélulas incluyendo la “Libélula verde” respiran por el ano, y esto le ha servido para moverse mucho más rápido aéreamente y para escapar de sus temibles depredadores.

This dragonfly has the scientific name Anax junius and is made up of some 27 species, which are distributed in various parts of the Americas. They are mostly known for being large dragonflies and for having a much faster flight capacity than other dragonfly species.

Esta libélula que lleva por nombre científico Anax junius y se constituye por unas 27 especies, las cuales se distribuyen en varios lugares de América. Son conocidas mayormente por ser las libélulas grandes y por tener una capacidad de vuelo mucho más rápida que las otras especies de libélulas.

Fun fact: People who study these insects have made reports that these green dragonflies have reached speeds as fast as 85 km/h (about 45 mph).

Dato curiosos: Las personas que estudian estos insectos han hechos reportes de que estas libélulas verdes han alcanzado velocidades tan rápidas como la de 85 km/h.

The characteristics of this beautiful green dragonfly are incredible as it has a yellowish green head, with two large dark green eyes, the wings are first light but as they grow they become amber in color, which makes it look much more beautiful as the age of this green dragonfly increases.

Las características de esta hermosa libélula verde son increíbles ya que tiene una cabeza de un color verde amarillento, con dos ojos grandes y de un color verde oscuro, las alas primero son claras pero mientras van creciendo se les ponen de un color ámbar, lo que hace que se vea mucho más hermosa mientras la edad de esta libélula verde va aumentando.

Fun fact: Depending on whether the green dragonfly is male or female they will have a different color on the front of their head, which can be a black or brown dot surrounded by blue and a striking yellow color.

Dato curioso: Dependiendo si la libélula verde es macho o hembra tendrán un color distinto en la frente de su cabeza, que puede ser un punto negro o marrón rodeado de azul y de un llamativo color amarillo.

The green dragonfly has a rare form of reproduction, as large numbers of these species are migratory and travel long distances from the north where they cross North America during the spring season in order to reproduce and leave their offspring.

La libélula verde tiene una rara forma de reproducción, ya que grandes cantidades de estas especies son migratorias y viajan largas distancias del norte donde atraviesan Norteamérica durante la estación de primavera para así reproducirse y dejar su descendencia.

Fun fact: These hatching larvae tend to grow during the summer season, and those large numbers of offspring emerge between the mid-summer and fall period. They then fly south in large numbers with their fledgling colors and begin their lives.

Dato curioso: Estas larvas que nacen tienden a crecer durante la estación de verano, y esa gran descendencia surge entre el periodo intermedio del verano y otoño. Después vuelan grandes cantidades al sur con sus colores de novato y empezar su vida.

Normally they usually live in a terrestrial environment such as ponds or lakes, sometimes in streams where the water current is slowly advancing. But since their migratory nature is always present from birth, they can be found flying anywhere, whether in places where there is a lot of water or where there is a lot of sun.

Normalmente suelen vivir en un ambiente terrestre como estanques o lagos, algunas veces en arroyos donde la corriente del agua va avanzando lentamente. Pero como su naturaleza de migrar siempre la llevan desde que nacen, las podemos encontrar en cualquier lugar volando ya sea en sitios donde se vea mucha agua o en donde hay mucho sol.

Curious fact: The presence of dragonflies including the green dragonfly in rivers, make us understand that this river has completely healthy water, and that it is not polluted or that can harm them.

Fun fact: The green dragonfly and all the other species feed while flying, they feed on flies, moths, butterflies and mosquitoes that can carry the dengue virus, and when they catch their prey they quickly move their mouths forward and ready, to look for another food.

This dragonfly was known as "Carboniferous" and moved through the air about 300 million years ago and measured 72 cm from tip to tip.

The green dragonfly was half able to fly after taking that hit from the bird. Finally, here are a few pictures of this dead insect so you can see what their whole body looks like when they are turned over. La libélula verde pudo medio volar después de recibir el golpe del pájaro.
