Antes de hablar sobre el capo de los capos de la obra debemos tener bien claro algo: en este universo, hasta donde nos han dejado ver, los goblins son la peor lacra que podría existir, seres que solo viven del pillaje y disfrutan grotescamente el sufrimiento ajeno; como no existen goblins hembra estos secuestran y violan a mujeres para que den a luz a sus crías. Rápidamente el anime nos introduce estos puntos y, apenas al terminar el primer capítulo, estoy seguro de que cualquiera sentirá desprecio hacia esas alimañas verdes.

Una de las cosas que más llamó mi atención fue el cómo presentaron a los goblins, quienes casi son los verdaderos protagonistas (o al menos la carne de cañón). Básicamente los creadores nos los muestran como un problema real, gravísimo, al que casi nadie en el Gremio de Aventureros (sí, hay un gremio de aventureros) presta atención porque los consideran un asunto para novatos y, a raíz de eso, los goblins han tenido la tranquilidad y el tiempo necesario para evolucionar, aprendieron y cada vez son más astutos y peligrosos, al punto de desarrollar diferentes "subespecies" (hasta ahora tenemos, además de los comunes, a goblins chamnes, trasgos, campeones, Lores y paladines) pero solo Goblin Slayer parece darse cuenta.

Los personajes de apoyo

Otros aventureros se han unido a Goblin Slayer a lo largo de la trama, con todo y que al principio nos lo presentan como una especie de "lobo solitario". Algunos esporádicamente, pero el grupo principal se ha mantenido desde que se juntó.

Algo particular de la obra, ya que estoy mencionando a los personajes, es que estos no tienen nombres como tal. Sus "apodos" son la única forma de identificarles.

Cada uno de los personajes tiene su personalidad distinguida, si bien ninguno tiene un trasfondo relevante y, a excepción de la Sacerdotisa, parecen haber salido de la nada solo porque sí, porque el protagonista lo necesitaba y el guion lo requería, algo que se ve forzado pero sinceramente se olvida rápido.

El asesino de goblins

Si hay una palabra que describe al protagonista de esta saga es "motivación". Todo el personaje se basa en la motivación que lo impulsa a cazar y matar goblins, motivación que nació luego de que unos goblins, precisamente, invadieran la aldea de su infancia y mataran a todos, incluida su hermana.

Basado en eso está bien construido, aunque de que por ratos el personaje se vuelve acartonado y un tanto repetitivo, además de ser el cliché de macho alfa del anime que vuelve locas a todas las féminas haciéndose el misterioso, a pesar de ello el obvio trauma que le persigue y la lenta evolución que tiene para socializar logra que uno pueda llegar a empatizar con él en algunos de sus puntos de vista.

Lo mejor de Goblin Slayer, refiriéndome al personaje y no al anime, algo que lo hace diferente a la mayoría de los protagonistas de los animes, es que puntualmente, como lo mencioné al inicio de estas líneas, no está ni cerca de ser el más poderoso de los aventureros y es algo clarísimo, no es uno más del montón pero tampoco es nadie especial

De hecho, a medida que avanzan los capítulos, tenemos la oportunidad de verlo en acción junto a otros aventureros del gremio y comprobamos que estos acaban con relativa facilidad con enemigos que a él lo dejaron al borde de la muerte.
