MyPictureDay - Into the Wild

(Edited)
That beautiful crisp morning as we were drinking our first cup of coffe a neighbour stopped by with a bucket of fresh eggs and fritule, a Croatian desert.

Fritule is a festive Croatian pastry made particularly for Christmas. They resemble little doughnuts, the Italian zeppole, Venetian frìtole, and the Dutch Christmas snack "oliebollen".

People are very welcoming here and humble also. It is very comforting to have such an amazing and lovely people near by during this crisis.

Wild plum and apple tree beside our house have started to blossom and show it's beautiful flowers.

Sheeps were also out early today eager to start cropping fresh grass.

After breakfast my dog Bella started barking and desperately wanted to go into the shed.. and her instincts were right. We had an uninvited guest in the shed. Mr. Zelembac🦎a beautiful European green lizard.

The European green lizard is native to southeastern Europe. Its range extends from southern Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, eastern Italy, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece to southern Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and western Turkey.

We spent hours trying to lure him out and even used a GoPro camera to try to track his movement so we know where's he hiding. It was very amusing and a little scary at the same time. 😀

After unsuccessfully removing our guest from the shed it was lunch time. We have prepared some fresh squid with domestic potatoes under peka along with some vegetables sprinkled with lavanda from our garden and freshly picked salad with some squeezed lemon and virgin olive oil from Šibenik city.

Famous dalmatian peka with Lika potatoes

Potatoes of larger and medium size are washed and sliced in half, unpeeled. Best results are achieved if they are baked in a bread oven or under a peka (a domed, cast iron lid that is placed over food and covered with live coal).

It was very delicious, a brief trip to the summertime! 😊

Bella was exhausted from all that fuss and after she had her meal she decided to have a little nap in the afternoon.

It was a great day to play with our drone also! Here are some shots taken during the day of the house and scenery around it.

After a little rest we agreed we could use a walk through the woods down to the river. We stumbled on another not so pleasant surprise that day but this time it was a snake! It is called sljepić or blindworm and it is common around here. Good thing they are not venomous!

In the United Kingdom, the slowworm has been granted protected status, alongside all other native British reptile species.

Look at this nature's pure beauty and strength. It demands your attention and respect!

Woods looks even better as a reflection in the river.

Suddenly it was getting dark and it was time to go back to the house...you never know who might be lurking in the woods!

Did you really use a p30? The photos seem to be taken with a polarizing and neutral density filter. Wow, amazing quality of pictures, and amazing story, full of wildlife.

Yeah, some of the photos were taken with P30 Pro and I've just given them a little extra touch with Lightroom. Thanks for noticing and for your feedback! 🤗😎

Haha cool. Yes. I love drones but don't have any. But I would love to have a solar powered drone or a series of drones with WIFI routers so I could communicate with people via my own Internet. That is what people should do with drones. I would also love to have underground houses, car boat plane vehicles, 3D Printers, and also robot body guards to keep me safe. And guns too.
