Hello to all hiveamigos!!!! Lovers of thread and needles, today I want to share with all of you a project that is very necessary in these times of pandemic in which humanity lives, The mouthpiece.

As it is well known by all, in the first quarter of the year 2020 an infectious virus that attacks the respiratory tract, until it reaches the lungs, struck humanity, causing the death of millions of people worldwide. That is why the WHO in common agreement with all countries, have dictated and published through social networks, the hygienic safety measures to avoid contagion, and among these is the use of the mouth guard.

I learned to make them in a practical, comfortable and simple way, because it has not been easy to get used to them, at least it is very difficult for me, but that does not stop me from using them.

-Tijera, hilo y aguja. O máquina de coser.
-Un retazo de tela.
-Dos tiras de tela de 1 metro.

Next, I am going to introduce you to the materials we are going to use:

-Scissors, thread and needle. Or sewing machine.
-A piece of fabric.
-Two 1 meter strips of fabric.

Procedure of elaboration:

Step 1: We cut a rectangle of fabric 25 cm by 16 cm. Then with a round object, I used a medium plate, mark a crescent on the sides of 16 cm, and cut.

Queda de esta manera // It looks like this

Step 2: We make two folds of 1 cm more or less, approximately in the center of the rectangle, and sew along the edge with a few little stitches, which will be covered with the strips.

Step 3: We are going to sew by toro the right edge a strip, trying to leave the same excess on top and bottom. Repeat the same procedure on the other side. And so we have our mouthpiece.

Well friends this is all, I hope you do it, and keep doing it to have reserves, since the mask should be changed every 2 hours to maintain hygiene. Wash very well with soap and iron before using again. We can make mouth covers for the members of the family as they are very easy to make.

A big hello to you @tere.alv in the @needleworkmonday community and to see such a practical project. I live in a big town and we need to put on a mask every time we leave our apartment, so we need to have a lot of them. It is always so useful to see explanations how to make them oneself: thank you for sharing.

So, I want to invite you officially into the needleworkmonday community:
Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.

We encourage our members to share the process of their work through photos. This not only validates your work but it takes us along the creative journey with you 🙂

For more information about what we do and for our posting guidelines please visit our FAQs.

I hope to see more of your lovely crafting projects. <3
