¡Hola a todos! El día de hoy les quiero mostrar uno de los mejores regalos que me han hecho y es, nada más y nada menos que una máquina de coser manual.

Hello everybody! Today I want to show you one of the best gifts they have given me and it is nothing more and nothing less than a manual sewing machine.

Es la cosa más tierna que se pueda encontrar, cabe destacar que no sabía que ese tipo de máquina siquiera existían sino hasta que hace un par de años atrás vi un anime (una animación japonesa) de los 90 llamado "Gokinjo monogatari", en donde la protagonista, es una chica que sueña con ser diseñadora de modas. Ella es muy apasionada y ansiosa y cuando no la mira la profesora, cose con su máquina de coser manual.

Desde la primera vez que vi esa pequeña máquina que lucía como una engrapadora, quedé enamorada ¡Quería una! Pero luego puse los pies sobre la tierra, se trataba de una serie muy vieja, seguramente aquellas máquinas ya no salían al mercado y de haberlas, no serían tan fáciles de hallar en dónde vivo. Así que dejé de pensar mucho en el asunto.

Bueno, pues resulta que yo tenía una muy buena amiga, una señora con la que compartía el gusto por las manualidades y por la costura. La Sra. Gladys (que en paz descanse), me solía pedir favores para terminar alguna cosa que tuviera en proceso y me pagaba por ello. Aparte de eso, también me regalaba materiales de los que tenía guardado. Una ocasión que fui a visitarla ella me recibió con una caja llena de cosas. Yo acepté el regalo y me alegré porque habían trozos de tela que podían servirme, así como una que otra cosa que sabía podía hallarle utilidad. Imagínense cuanta fue mi sorpresa cuando al hallar en el fondo de la caja, se hallaba una cajita pequeña y al ver de que se trataba, mi mandíbula por casi se desquebraja ¡Era una máquina de coser manual! ¡Como la que había visto en el anime!

From the first time I saw that little machine that looked like a stapler, I fell in love. I wanted one! But then I put my feet on the ground, it was a very old series, surely those machines were no longer on the market and if there were, they would not be so easy to find where I live. So I stopped thinking too much about it.

Well, it turns out that I had a very good friend, a lady with whom I shared a taste for crafts and sewing. Mrs. Gladys (may she rest in peace), used to ask me for favors to finish something she had in process and she paid me for it. Apart from that, he also gave me materials that he had saved. One time I went to visit her, she received me with a box full of things. I accepted the gift and was happy because there were pieces of cloth that could serve me, as well as one thing or another that I knew could find it useful. Imagine how surprised I was when I found a small box at the bottom of the box and when I saw what it was about, my jaw almost cracked. It was a manual sewing machine! Like the one I had seen in the anime!

Ella no entendía porque me emocionaba tanto y me confesó que la había comprado hacía muchos años, pero que nunca había podido utilizarla. Yo me ofrecí a aprender y dársela de nuevo, pero me dijo que no, que me la quedara. Entonces lo siguiente que hice, fue aprender a enhebrarla. Cabe destacar que no tenía acceso a internet en esa época como para ver algún tutorial. Así que me tocó guiarme por la fotografía impresa en la caja y ver por donde pasaba el hilo. No fue nada fácil dado que la imagen no está muy nítida que digamos, pero finamente, pude hacerlo.

Lo siguiente fue ponerle stickers (una manía que tengo para mis cosas favoritas) y probarla con alguna tela. Me costó un poco hacer que cosiera, sonaba mucho y me dolía la mano al usarla. Sólo cose rectas y no da marcha atrás, así que cerrar costuras se me hacía muy complicado. Luego la dejé guardada entre mis cosas porque tenía a mi disposición mi máquina de coser casera.

Pero luego comenzó la pandemia y no pude ir ten seguido a casa. Cuando fui de visita me traje un par de cosas, entre ellas, mi máquina de coser manual (el espacio donde resido es muy pequeño, por lo que no he podido traerme mi máquina grande). Revisé la caja donde tengo mis cosas y la encontré. Mi amiga falleció hace poco, su recuerdo viene a mí cada vez que miro la pequeña máquina. No me siento ya triste, me alegra poder tener esa cosa para recordarla porque realmente me hizo muy feliz cuando me la dio. Al igual que todos esos momentos en que nos reuníamos.

Tengo pensado usar ésta máquina, aprovechando que la tengo conmigo y para darle la utilidad que mi amiga esperaba que le diera. En cuanto pueda compraré pequeños trozos de tela, algo de hilo y alfileres y veré que puedo hacer. Ahora que he encontrado este pequeño rincón amante de la costura, me alegraría mucho compartirlo con ustedes, no les prometo la gran cosa, espero que la pequeña y yo nos llevemos bien ja ja

But then the pandemic started and I couldn't go home often. When I went to visit I brought a couple of things, including my manual sewing machine (the space where I live is very small, so I have not been able to bring my large machine). I went through the box where I have my things and found it. My friend passed away recently, her memory comes to me every time I look at the little machine. I don't feel sad anymore, I'm glad I can have that thing to remember because it really made me very happy when he gave it to me. Like all those times when we met.

I plan to use this machine, taking advantage of the fact that I have it with me and to give it the utility that my friend hoped it would give it. As soon as I can I will buy small pieces of fabric, some thread and pins and see what I can do. Now that I have found this little corner that loves sewing, I would be very happy to share it with you, I do not promise you a big deal, I hope the little one and I get along well ha ha
