Hello needleworkers of Hive! Today, I would like to present to you my DIY Palazzo for Antonia. Have you noticed, long skirt/dress/square/loose pants has been revived and is now the trending fashion. Well, that's good. At least the shortest short fashion changed for a bit into long skirts though of course, many still go with that fad especially when it comes to denims.

I was looking at my wardrobe when I saw this long dress that has been there ever since and never been used. Actually, it's too big for me but daughter didn't mind buying it since she knew that I know how to make the necessary adjustments. I've told them that it's the kind of cloth that matters most especially when it comes to straight-cut outfits. For the record, she had bought several dresses for me to wear during Sundays but honestly, I am not comfortable with it.

The cloth is soft cotton so I decided to see it for Antonia. Summer is approaching and this is just the right for summer get-up-and-go occasions.

Think of the exact design

How? First, think of what you can do with that size without wasting so much extra cuttings. I decided to make a two-piece outfit for Antonia.

The dress is wide enough to make a palazzo with matching top. Therefore, you need make the necessary measurements first without errors because it is what all you have!

• Measure the floor length from waist then make a fold but don't cut it yet.

• Next, measure from the shoulder down to waistline. Others like tops to be cute which would fit well with the palazzo design. Antonia had other things in mind too. She wanted to pair the upper part with her shorts so I calculated it to longer. This will be easy to insert the upper. It would look like a chemise then.

• After calculating, cut the dress accordingly.

For the upper part, I only need the trim for about 6 inches on both sides. Then I made the finishing stitches on the edges.

I embroidered a garter about an inch from the edge because she liked to pair it with skirts or a pair of shorts.

Palazzo in the making

The lower part will now look like a wide skirt. To make it easier, you only need to make a half fold and cut at the center only since the design is a loose one, then sliding down horizontally.

It is best to make a clean finish. Sew first on the right face then reverse.

For the waist, do not make a fold right away for the garter band. You should make some plaids somewhat like a tack on four equal parts then attach the strip for the placement of garter.

There, Antonia was happy with the result!

She like to match it with her denim shorts as well! Actually it belonged to her mom and a bit loose but she insisted that it's okay. Lol!

I hope you like it guys especially the young mommies out there. You can grab you wide long skirts and make a cute palazzos for the little ones!

Thank you all for dropping by my page and to these beautiful ladies: @croshielle, @muscara, @marblely and @ neumannsalva. God bless you all!

Love,

Thank you! Yes, there are many good ones left unnoticed in our wardrobe yet we focused on online shopping with the latest fashion for a price of course. But, if we only have the patience and time to repair/alter these things into new looks. It would be such an accomplishment instead of buying outside. Lastly, it's saving your budget to other things.
