Good morning everyone, I believe we had a nice weekend. I Will be sharing with you this morning how I made a lovely black shirt using silk material. The process isn't much and it's very straight forward. Following the steps, you can get it done on your own too.

MATERIALS USED

  • Fabric ( silk material)
  • Collar stay
  • Thread
  • Buttons

MEASURING AND CUTTING PROCESS

Making a shirt, the following measurements should be taken

  • Shoulder
  • Chest
  • Sleeve
  • Length
  • Neck

After getting the measurements for these, then you prepare your table for cutting of the fabrics.

Place the fabric on the table putting the tip together, folding 2 inches, measure the neck 2.5 by 3 inches, then the shoulder which is the total shoulder divided by 2 plus 0.5 as sewing allowance, then shoulder rest always 2 inches, arm hole 7 inches, though it depends on the body size, then the chest, total chest divided by 4 plus 0.75 as button allowance and 0.5 as sewing allowance then the length. Join the dotted line and cut the fabric.

Cutting the back, you fold your fabric placing the front on it, taking away 0.75 button allowance cause there won't be button at the back, then add to the shoulder tip 3 inches and 2.5 inches to the upper part and the lower part respectively.

You seem to be expert on that field. The final output was neat and looking good. Thank you for sharing the process. Now I realized how hard and complicated to make a shirt.
