HOW I MADE A LOVELY 3 PIECE KAFTAN ( AGBADA, BUBA, SOKOTO AND FILA) MOSTLY WORN BY YORUBAS IN WESTERN NIGERIA.
Good morning Hivers 💕💕
I'm so excited to share with you this morning my latest creation with how I made this lovely 3 piece kaftan that comprises of the top known as buba, trouser known as sokoto, and the overall top known as Agbada.
This dress is mostly worn by Yorubas in western Nigeria for occasions like coronations, traditional weddings, cultural day etc..
The fabrics used is called OFI also known as Aso Oke.
According to Google:
Aso oke fabric, (Yoruba: așǫ oke, pronounced ah-SHAW-okay) is a hand-woven cloth created by the Yoruba people of west Africa. Aso oke means "top cloth" in the English language, denoting cloth of high status. It is usually worn by men and women. The fabric is used to make men's gowns, called agbada and hats, called fila, as well as women's wrappers, called iro and head tie, called gele.
Below are the materials used and I got it done.
MATERIALS USED
- Aso oke
- Irish material
- Thread
- Hair stay
MEASURING AND CUTTING PROCESS
After that had been done, I sew the trouser too
- Then the cap too was done.
Making of the cap, I cut into 4 pieces, slanting it, then joined them together, then cut to the measurements of the head adding allowances then i sew. Below is the process
- Then the agbada.
After taking the measurements which is the length and sleeve, I joined to ofi together to make it wide to the size you want cause the ofi are in pieces. Then embroidery was done on it and I joined the sleeve.
Wow this is fantastic, omg guy you killed the style
