While the virus is on the loose around the world wreaking havoc, I'm at home cooped up, devoting myself like a modern-day granny, cyber blogger, to social media and my beloved #Hive. These are the only visits I'm allowed.

This confinement has helped me to find myself again because I was totally lost at work, and that's not worth it, as Juan Gabriel's song says.

In my real life, I like to do handicrafts. I do cross-stitch embroidery, wood painting, and some sewing. I say some sewing because I am not a seamstress, nor a specialist. I have taken two basic courses and one in intimate apparel. I'm going little by little; at a snail's pace.

I embroidered a rose in cross stitch and with this embroidery, I recycled an old cushion. This one was hand-stitched because the machine wouldn't start. It seems to be a problem with the foot pedal. I will look for someone to check it later.

To start my way through this nice Highlighting NeedleWorkMonday Community, I bring you my nice garden.

Greetings to OCD for promoting and supporting the communities with the incubation project.

Step 1: I stuffed the cushion to give it more strength. I used an old pillow stuffing. I made a pouch out of old white flannel.

I got an old flannel of my son's that was destroyed by ants and recycled it.

My son tells me that the ants and I are done with his clothes.

The figure is not damaged, I am going to recycle it too. I will show it to you in another publication.

Step 2: To protect the cushion and prevent the stuffing from showing through, I made a cover for it out of old white pants.

Step 3: I put the pink silk on the front and sewed the embroidery on it. For the back, I used white silk.

Step 4: I put a green ribbon around the edge, with four little bows in the corner and a little transparent stone.

I used thin orange and salmon-colored ribbons.

Hello @mafalda2018! Welcome to the NeedleWorkMonday Community!

It is nice that you have been able to get back to doing the things you love during this time of limitation. Your cushion turned out really lovely and your embroidered work is very beautiful.

Please remember in order to qualify for this contest you must leave a link to this post in the comment section of the original contest announcement.

Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.

We encourage our members to share the process of their work through photos (as you have done). This not only validates your work but it takes us along the creative journey with you 🙂

For more information about what we do and for our posting guidelines please visit our FAQs.

Thank you ~
