Needleworkmonday: Women's Day Challenge, My Entry
Hello everybody,
Happy International Women's Day, all!
I am seizing this day here in NeedleWorkMonday Community by showing you my crafts that is related to women at home. My crocheted project am sharing you today is very much useful at home and related to health care to protect our food on the table. It is actually a re-use/re-cycling which I discovered by accident just last week, Crocheted Food Cover.
Last Wednesday, while hubby ate his lunch, he didn't finished his food. He called me to cover it because flies were flying. Our newly built tiny house have no screen yet. Very timely that time I was cutting the 10 liters empty galloon of alkaline drinking water into 2 parts.
The lower part as my compost pit for our kitchen scraps and the upper portion for my future project planting hanging veggies. When hubby said, I must cover his left over food I instantly cover it with what I was holding, the upper part of the galloon. Waaaa, I shouted, "perfect!" Hubby was startled and asked, "what do you mean, perfect? What is perfect?" I smiled and just told him to wait until my prototype item be done.
After washing the dishes, I right away got my hook and acrylic yarns, constructing what was on my mind that very moment.
Pattern:
Round(Rnd)1: Using 3.5mm hook and acrylic purple yarn I chain(ch) 32, join with slip stitch(sl st) to starting ch 1.
Rnd 2: ch 3, 1 extended double crochet(edc) in each 2 st, ch 1, skip 1st, 1 edc in each 3st, repeat all around
Rnd 3: ch 3, 2 edc in space, ch 2, 3 edc in each space. Slip st with another color. bring in light pink bring down purple, join.
Rnd 4: with baby pink , ch 3, 2 edc into spaces, ch3, 3 edc into sp 3 edc into same space. Repeat all around. Sl st.
Rnd 5: Rep round 4...
Rnd 6: another color. Ch 3, 3 edc in each space.
Rnd 7: same as Rnd 6
Rnd 8: with another color, gray, ch 3 ( considered as 1st edc. 2 edc, ch 1, 2 edc in same space repeat all around. End.
I make another 2 rounds of 12 granny squares join as I go. After weaving ends I attached it to the previous one I made using stitch marker I joined the two parts by joining as I go with single crochet. Done!
After I made this and covered our left over food, for the first time ever, hubby said, "what a brilliant idea!" Made my heart smile.
No more flies can attack the food, practical and colorful original cover on the table.
Hope you like my recycling project for this challenge.
