my favorite place

Hello creative needleworkers, today is Monday.

We are in this beautiful month of the year, where everyone becomes colorful and bright, we want to wear new clothes and decorate the house with ornaments and seasonal colors.

In the streets of my city Caracas people are rushing to the stores to find bargains, buy clothes, shoes and gifts for the family.

Others like me think about what to wear and how to make them.
For some time now my daughter and I have been making our own clothes. We choose the fabrics we like and create different garments in our own size.

So this weekend was one of those where we invested money and time in selecting fabrics.

We both went to a very popular fabric store in town. Although I think many people had the same thought, the store was packed with people walking all over the place, and the salesgirls were super busy.

This store is called El Castillo, it is one of our favorite stores, we can stay in it for hours and hours, looking at fabrics and thinking of the thousand and one ways to use that fabric for some creation.

I remember

When my mom also took me to fabric stores, I grew up visiting them and wearing the clothes my mom made for me.

Sometimes she would make things that I didn't really like but I would wear them hahahah because it was her creation and I didn't want to ruin her moment, even though I only wore them once.

My grandmother did the same with my mother, this sewing is a work of generations and helps us to stop thinking negative things and develops skills.

At the Castillo .....

Once in the store that has 4 big floors, we started our tour, I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do. But just being there, it's a way to imagine myself wearing one garment or another.

I liked the shirting fabrics, I want to make myself a long sleeve shirt for work, but I also want a swimsuit and the lycra was beautiful, although the prices were beyond my budget.

On the other hand my daughter was also looking at the options and prices, she also wants to make many things, this time she was looking at plastic fabrics to make a tent, maybe later it will be one of our projects together.

On each floor, we were attracted to one or two types of fabrics, there was the tercio pelo, corduroy, microfiber, jean.
In the end we decided on printed microfiber to make us some pajamas for Christmas, a red plaid fabric, some family pajamas, there were many colors, but the most traditional is the blue and red plaid.

So in the next installment we will have that project over here, how it will be the elaboration of three Christmas pajamas and how cute we will look, with matching pajamas.

My daughter bought you some monkey fabric to make a hooded sweater.

The end....

The tour in the store was two hours, which we enjoyed very much and the best thing is to share with my daughter something that we both like and we can create together, learn from each other.

We will continue to visit this store, it is the best way to invest the time, sometimes I go through it alone, and I enjoy the textures, colors and prints, I dream about what I will make...

and I always leave with a yard of some fabric.
This is my way of being in the here and now without regretting the future or the past.

Thanks for joining me ..... see you in the next idea.
