La biodiversidad peruana nos sigue sorprendiendo, esta vez con flores de distintas variedades de papa. Sí, esta es la cuarta publicación sobre papa. En los post pasados (enlace al final), hablamos de los datos generales (flores de papa), luego de algunas características de los tubérculos (nativo) y explicamos sobre la elaboración del chuño (Tunta).
Peruvian biodiversity continues to surprise us, this time with flowers of different potato varieties. Yes, this is the fourth publication about potatoes. In the past posts (link at the end), we talked about the general data (potato flowers), then some characteristics of the tubers (native) and explained about the elaboration of the chuño (Tunta).
Desde años venía buscando un material para plasmar estas famosas flores de papa. Esto, porque la primera vez que fui al campo de papa, el profesor nos preguntó si alguien conocía qué cultivo estaba sembrado y nadie supo la respuesta. Ahora se me hace extraño que quizá muchos de los niños y jóvenes desconozcan estas flores.
For years I had been looking for a material to make these famous potato flowers. This is because the first time I went to the potato field, the teacher asked us if anyone knew what crop was being planted and no one knew the answer. Now it seems strange to me that perhaps many of the children and young people do not know about these flowers.
Las flores de las papas mejoradas por lo general son blancas, mientras de las papas nativas son pigmentadas y con diferentes formas.
The flowers of the improved potatoes are usually white, while those of the native potatoes are pigmented and have different shapes.
Pensar que todo comenzó con esta imagen. A la derecha se muestra variedades de flores y tubérculos. A simple vista se diferencias en forma, colores, textura, número de yemas, distribución de la pigmentación, color de piel, color de tallo, entre otros. Por eso, ni bien aprendí el anillo mágico en crochet, de inmediato busqué este separador de libros para tejerlos como llaveros. Tomé la forma de flor más conocida, la de pétalos globulares.
To think that it all started with this image. On the right is a variety of flowers and tubers. At first glance you can see differences in shape, colour, texture, number of buds, distribution of pigmentation, skin colour, stem colour, among others. That is why, as soon as I learned the magic ring in crochet, I immediately looked for this book separator to knit them as key rings. I took the most famous flower shape, the one with globular petals.

Dato curioso: Me alegra contar con distintos tonos de colores. Si consigo más tejeré más flores. / I am happy to have different colour shades. If I get more, I'll weave more flowers.

Hola, que lindos tus llaveros. Me encanta leer tus posts, están llenos de arte y cultura. No solo compartes tu pasión por el tejido si no también tu amor por la cultura peruana. Yo tengo algunas anécdotas sobre eso de la variedad de papas aquí en tu pais. Y tienes mucha razón, El Perú es un pais muy diverso y cargado de una gran historia cultural. Gracias por compartir. Muchas gracias por sus comentarios. Desde pequeña mi abuelita nos traía diversas frutas y yerbas aromáticas, muchas de ellas no se encontraban en los mercados. Creo que desde allí tuve más curiosidad por conocer a las plantas. Espero pronto ir a campo y traer novedades. ¡Buenas vibras!.
