Las alpacas pertenecen a la familia Camelidae, junto con la llama, el guanaco y la vicuña. Las 2 primeras son especies domésticas. Su hábitat natural son los pastizales sobre los 3800 metros sobre el nivel del mar (m.s.n.m).
Alpacas (Lama pacos) belong to the Camelidae family, along with the llama, guanaco and vicuña. The first 2 are domestic species. Their natural habitat is the grasslands above 3800 meters above sea level.
La raza que tejí es la “Huacaya”, esta representa el 90% de las alpacas del Perú (más conocida). La fibra de alpaca es una de las más cotizadas del mundo, junto a la cabra, vicuña, etc. Esto debido a que es más fuerte y caliente (que el de la oveja), tiene propiedades aislantes (para el agua), es liviana y muy fina (19 micrones), entre otros.
The breed I wove is the "Huacaya", this represents 90% of the alpacas of Peru (better known). The alpaca fiber is one of the most sought after in the world, along with the goat, vicuña, etc. This is because it is stronger and warmer (than that of sheep), has insulating properties (for water), is lightweight and very thin (19 microns), among others.
A tejer:
Seguí el video tutorial de "Knitoysandcrafts" pero lo tejí con un hilo de 2mm de grosor y midió 16 centímetros. Comencé tejiendo las extremidades y colita (figura 1), para luego ir formando el cuerpo (figura 2 y 3). En la parte del cuello y la cabeza se tiene que ir dando forma (figura 4 y 5). Cosí el hocico y las orejas según la mirada del animal (figura 6).
I followed the "Knitoysnandcrafts" video tutorial but I knitted it with a 2mm thick thread and it measured 16 centimeters. I started knitting the extremities and tail (figure 1), and then I formed the body (figure 2 and 3). In the neck and head part I had to shape it (figure 4 and 5). I sewed the muzzle and ears according to the look of the animal (figure 6).
Para los colores de la colchita y los adornos de las orejas, recordé que las personas visten a sus animalitos así para los carnavales.
For the colors of the mattress and the ear ornaments, I remembered that people dress their little animals this way for carnivals.
