How I combined satin and left over pieces of lace fabric from the dress I made for my client to make a surprise gathered dress for her little daughter
Hello hiveians
Here is a beautiful dress I made for my client's little daughter from the left over pieces of lace material I made for her mum.
Sometimes ago, I made a design of an A-LINE long gown for my client with turtle neck using a white lace fabric, after making the dress, a had some left over pieces which I set aside.
Recently, a thought just came to my mind that I can actually use the left over fabric to make a simple dress for her little daughter which I know she will appreciate, instead of keeping the left over fabric to myself.
Searching through my bag where I usually keep all my left over pieces of fabric, I found a trouser length of white satin material which I used to combined the pieces of white lace fabric.
This was successfully achieved with the help of my pattern which was first drafted on a brown paper, that is one of the advantages of pattern drafting, it helps to minimize your fabric, all you need to do is place the pattern on the pieces of fabric and cut it out.
The satin was used for the lower bodice of the dress which I simply gathered and added lining to it after cutting out the desired measurement.
The upper bodice and lower part were sewn together and I finally have this beautiful dress with straight sleeve.
When delivered, it was a surprise to my client that I could make something beautiful for her daughter from her left over fabric even without expecting it, she said, left to some fashion designer, they would have kept the remaining fabric to themselves. I was happy to hear that from her, it means a lot to me.
She was so happy that she gave me a tip to appreciate me for what I did.
Lovely thanks for sharing @bimpcy
Thanks for your comment boss @smilestitches 😀😀😀
😂 😂 ya welcome @bimpcy
Wow, what a nice detail of you, Bimpcy. Now mother and daughter will have matching dresses. I loved how you solved this and took advantage of all the scraps, very smart ❤️.
Thanks so much @lauramica, I'm so glad with what I made and with the fact that the mother appreciated me with a bonus even when I wasn't expecting anything from her, now they can both wear the matching dresses together.
