| Grape snails are so named because they were first found in large numbers in vineyards, although they are, of course, found not only there. For example, I photographed all the grape snails pictured in these photos in one of Lviv's parks, among the lush May grass. | Виноградні равлики називають так тому, що їх вперше почали знаходити у великій кількості саме на виноградниках, хоча вони, звісно, водяться не лише там. | When I was a child, grape snails were not found right next to my house. But once I accompanied my friend to a nearby village, where he visited his grandfather. When we came back (and it was after the rain), we gathered grape snails on the way, throwing them in a bag. We probably collected about fifty of them. Then we set them free in the woods near my house. Now they are found there, after each rain in large numbers crawling to the surface. | Коли я був дитиною, безпосередньо біля мого дому виноградні равлики не водилися. Але якось я супроводжував свого друга в сусіднє село, де він він відвідував свого дідуся. Коли ми поверталися назад (а це було після дощу), то збирали дорогою виноградних равликів, кидаючи їх у пакет. Ми, мабуть, назбирали їх десь зо півсотні. Потім ми випустили їх на волю в лісі біля мого дому. Тепер вони водяться там, після кожного дощу у великій кількості виповзаючи на поверхню. |

| I know that these snails are eaten and they are considered a delicacy (I even saw exactly the same, they were sold in one of the Lviv supermarkets), but I never tasted them.
