Good evening dear Hivers.

I hope you all are doing fine.

Tonight I'd like to share with you some information about this flowering plant which as I've been reading seems to be very useful in various aspects.

Canna Indica

It is a perennial and flowering plant native to Central and South America. It has been naturalized to the Southeastern United States, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.

Research has shown that this plant has been cultivated for 4500 years mainly by indigenous tribes who used it as food. Today they continue to provide benefits not only for the beautiful flowers but also for the variety of uses that can be obtained from almost every part of the plant.

USES

  1. As an ornamental plant
  2. As food: The plant can be consumed by humans in different ways because starch can be extracted from it and flour can be made. The rhizomes can be roasted and eaten. The leaves can be used to wrapping sweets and traditional dishes.
  3. As folk medicine: The roots are used to prepare tea with diuretic properties, the leaves are used for healing and to treat burns.
  4. To make necklaces and bracelets with their seeds

I think I'm gonna try some of the uses I've learned today, I didn't know it could be so much beneficial and useful.

Thanks for reading and supporting.

Best regards.
