Amazing Nature Contest: Chasing Rainbows

This is my entry to the Amazing Nature Contest hosted by @adalger.

Driving to Charlottetown on a rainy afternoon, it was a pleasant surprise to see this rainbow take the form of a beautiful multicolored arc as I neared the outskirts of the city.

Seeing the beautiful rainbow was nature's amazing way of giving a smile on an otherwise dreary day.

A rainbow is the result of reflection of light in rain droplets causing a lovely ribbon of color to appear in the sky.

Start of the rainbow

Starting out on the country road I first noticed the rainbow coming up from behind the trees on the left side of the road.

It didn’t look like the rainbow was going to last long..the day was overcast and tiny drops of rain were sporadically hitting the windshield of the car but now and then the sun would peek out from the clouds.

Driving into a mall before reaching the Hillsborough bridge to cross into Charlottetown, the rainbow was becoming stronger. If you look closely there is a faint start of a second rainbow to the left of the main one.

At last the rainbow gave a big smile across the sky. It may have been nature’s way of letting us know there were good things coming our way...the news of an approved COVID-19 vaccine was broadcast on the evening news.

We had the appropriate conditions today, but alas no rainbow. But it is the first rain of any sort we've had since March. So maybe there is hope for us yet.

Thanks for a truly wonderful 'rainbow progression'. I really enjoyed it!

I’m happy you enjoyed the rainbow progression @bigtom13. I was surprised to see it had developed into a full arc.

Hopefully you will get a more rainfall soon and lots of rainbows.🌈😊

Cool shots, Jo, so colorful rainbows.
Hopefully you are right and this rainbow means the start of the end of the pandemic.

I have also been chasing rainbows a few times, but you can imagine I haven't found the pot of gold 🤣

Good evening Hannes,😊

It would be wonderful to see the end of this pandemic. The news sounds hopeful with the vaccine being approved. The first rollout is the vaccine from Belgium. I’m sure many will follow. 🤞

Haha, no pot of gold found here either dear Hannes. 🤗

Thanks for your reblog and generous goodies.

Have a wonderful Frigg’s Day!

Good morning Jo 😊

the vaccine comes from Belgium? I don't know if that's good or bad - @pixelfan lives there 🤣

Soon it will be weekend - I hope you have a great Frigg's day and a wonderful weekend, dear Jo 🤗🌞

Morning Hannes, Haha I hope it’s all good. Only about 250.000 doses coming here first making it awhile before enough arrive for the whole country.

Has there been any word of this vaccine for Austria? It has to be kept in freezers at -70C. That poses a bit of a challenge.

On Pfizer’s Vaccine:: “Canada’s first doses of Pfizer’s vaccine will arrive from the company’s manufacturing plant in Belgium. In its final analysis from Phase 3 clinical trials released last month, pharmaceutical company Pfizer said its coronavirus vaccine is 95 per cent effective, with no serious side effects, and protects older adults.

In what was being hailed as a “V-Day” and closely watched around the world, the United Kingdom started injecting people across the country with Pfizer’s vaccine on Tuesday, becoming the first country to do so.”

There is another vaccine ‘Moderna' from the U.S.A. which may also be approved and only has to be kept at -20C.

Enough about what I know of these vaccines. It will just be great to see the world back to normal.😄

Hope your day has started pleasantly and you have a wonderful weekend dear Hannes.🤗☀️

Hi Jo,

you have been up very early this morning, or did you go to sleep so late?

Hm, that sounds weird to me: 95% effective / no serious side effects / protects older adults ... but at least it's better than nothing.
No, I haven't heard of any vaccine yet, but I don't watch much TV anymore since months ago.

What happens with your blood if they inject the -70 C cold vaccine? Will it freeze? 😂

Now seriously, I hope it works fine, but I wouldn't want to be the first to get the vaccine. I'd prefer to wait till the percentage is at 100% without any side effects. That's why I am not getting the flu vaccine - last time I was ill is years ago.

I am up since 4 in the morning, couldn't sleep anymore, but now I am getting quite tired. Maybe that's why I'm writing a little bit weird 😁
Soon I'll turn the computer off and start the weekend 😉

Hope you have a wonderful weekend too, dear Jo 🤗

I couldn't sleep, got up, made coffee and checked iPad...had a couple hours sleep later. I don't have to worry about getting the vaccine too soon as it will be a long time before there is enough to go around.

The main thing is to have the freezers to keep the vaccine stable. PEI has large freezers to keep tuna that will freezer to -70 C. I don't know how cold the vaccine is when it's injected into an arm.

Anyway it seems a step in the right direction. When in school I remember it being scary thinking of getting a needle as my class lined up in the auditorium, getting vaccinated for polio and maybe some other diseases. Polio had left my cousin crippled before the vaccine. I had also been vaccinated for mumps, smallpox, etc as a baby. Like you I don't get a shot for the flu.

I hope you have a peaceful lovely weekend dear Hannes 🤗☀️

Oh yes, I can remember too how it was as a child - so many needles, but I didn't mind them when I was young.
Nowadays it's different, as I don't like needles stuck into my well aged meat 😂

To be honest I can't even imagine -70 Celsius. It is cold here in winter, but our coldest temperatures might be called warm compared to -70.

They said it takes time for a good working vaccine. The later we get it the better it might be - I see it positive 😉 and news about a vaccine will certainly let the people think positive too, especially when they hear that it works 🙂

This day was again gray in gray and I have been sitting at work from about 4:30 till just before, but tomorrow will hopefully be better 😁

Thank you Jo 😊

Hm, do I really want to know what you deliver? 😂 but why has it to be stored at -70 degrees? Please don't answer, because maybe then I will reject the vaccine 🤣

You should sell the picture to Subway they could use it to advertise meme style, all they have to do is add above the rainbow The best things in life are under the rainbow. Commercial voice over would be something like: Subway sandwich, made fresh daily under the rainbow with love.

Thanks! Maybe we could make some coin @bashadow. You present their marketing head with the slogan and my photo and see if it flies.

Have a great Friday.😊

Finding a cheerful rainbow arcing over the sky always brings cheer and song to everyone.

Lovely photography considering you were driving.

Not so sure about the news with vaccine sounds like some crazy race going on, yet little truth being told.

(Edited)

Yes in the vehicle and only had my phone to take the photo when I saw the rainbow Joan @joanstewart.

There is a lot of positivity here about this vaccine manufactured by the U.S pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and produced in the tiny factory town of Puurs, Belgium.

Puurs was previously known for strong Duvel beer.

The Pfizer vaccine has been approved by Canadian health and we are waiting for the first rollout n a few days which will be given to front line health workers first.

There is a race on as another vaccine ‘Moderna' from the U.S.A. may also be approved and only has to be kept at -20C whereas Pfizer has to be kept at -70C. Luckily we have freezer here on the Island used by fisherman that keeps products this cold.

Thanks for beer Joan and have a wonderful day.😊

When vaccine is released, front line workers should be offered first option, school going, university students, retail/warehouse workers next in line, keeping them healthy to help build the future.

For me personally I would not put my hand up for one, there are many who work out in the field with others, I am no social butterfly and am able to restrict my movement.

Reaching out photographing rainbows always magical, sign of hope and goodwill.
