Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 36

avatar

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

Welcome to the 36th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. As long as the response is not too overwhelming, I will also try to give some smaller upvotes on all of the other entries to reward all participants.

I might change the concept and/or the rules of the photo challenge later on, depending on how things go. I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

A bit of a panoramic view of the Jordan Park, one of the oldest and largest public parks in Krakow, Poland. Established in 1889, the park is a popular chill out area for the locals who come here to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center. We are currently staying just a few blocks from the park so we hang around it quite often, also because it is one of the places where face masks are not mandatory. I took the photo yesterday, just before the sunset.

In the last round, we had 5 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

It has been so wet and gloomy in Bangkok city for the few weeks almost getting depressing so i was so happen when my work emailed me last night and ask me if i could fly to Koh Samui this morning to attend business meetings on behalf of the company of course i didn't hesitate to reply so today lunch time i took a quick walk to the beach just to remind me how beautiful nature really is and how happy i was to be back on this beautiful sunny island for a couple of days.

Alright, the Mushroom challenge. Challenge accepted. Came across this couple of toadstools in the Jeseníky mountains (Velký Klín, 1178 m.a.s.l.) today.

Nice picture of those mushrooms. It looks like the 'dots' don't belong there and have been randomly planted on their caps. I've seen a lot of mushrooms too today and like to submit a picture of them to your contest. The most interesting fact I learnt about them today is that these mushrooms eat worms 😳 Location: The Hague, The Netherlands

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)

I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.

Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!

Coincidentally went out today, so I have something to participate.
Actually hunting birds (which I couldn't shoot because I moved too much trying to avoid mosquitoes) between 2 abandoned olive groves here in Patras, I settled for shooting this instead:

Some crustose lichen on a dead tree branch. Was in the shadow & the inbuilt flash is not perfect for macro shots, but still nice.

I am glad you decided to "shoot" from your camera instead of your gun, I am definitely not a fan of hunting ;) Nice close up.

Thanks.
Luckily I only hunt with cameras. (Anyway, had I a gun, clumsy as I am I most probably would shoot myself.)

I am really happy to hear that as for a moment, I thought we have a real hunter in this nature loving community, which would be quite odd I think :)

Nothing to worry there, from my side. Not a vegetarian, but I would have a hard time killing anything bigger than a mosquito, well maybe a cockroach.
Having said that, I think, many hunters actually have a stronger bond with nature than some city-dwelling 'nature lovers'.

Yeah, I know what you mean but still, I don´t understand how someone, who says he loves nature, can voluntarily kills its inhabitants... Makes no sense to me.

That's nature: Live & let live, eat & be eaten.
Anyway, I would differentiate between those who hunt for fun & those who hunt for food or eg. in forest management.
I abhor trophy hunters, but I respect a forest manager who keeps the number of deer in check. & I hugely respect eg. Amazon Indians who make a living by hunting with a blowgun.

Good point, I was talking about those who kill for fun (= trophy hunters).

OH sorry, it's very short description and lack of detail about the place 😚
Located in Located in My Khanh Commune, Phong Dien District, Can Tho City, viet Nam. Trúc Lâm Phương Nam Zen Monastery is the largest monastery in the Southwest region as well as one of the most famous tourist attractions in Can Tho. It's a beautiful pagoda, spacious with huge ground and highly recommend a place for people who want to discover about Vietnamese buddhisms 🙂

This morning i was out for a walk and i came across these beautiful white slightly pinkish colored flowers this plant is actually a fruit plant you would think not but you would think it's just some sort of cactus plant but this plant with these beautiful flowers will actually bear a fruit called the Dragon fruit which is a very large pinkish fruit and a very sweet.

That makes two of us here in Thailand they are pretty cheap i can eat them all season round this plant had much whiter flowers for some reason normally the flowers are more pink it might have been a different species of pitaya because they do have more then one variety over here 😁
