Storm clouds rolling in.

084.JPG

Now I got very wet, but just had to show you the storm's advancing clouds.

Happiness and fear, can one balance the two?

The weather announcements brought happiness and fear to many areas in our province. The happiness because our dams will be filled with much drinking water and the fear that many low lying townships will be flooded again.
They say that one can balance the two, but I don't agree.

In my previous post, I showed the period before the clouds arrived. Now they seriously started rolling in.
038.JPG

Such beauty and yet also so dangerous.
018.JPG

I took this one just above our roof.
094.JPG

This one was taken towards the western side.
083.JPG

Here was a scene at the southern end
053.JPG

But the main cloud feed passed across the sun.
099.JPG

In my opinion, happiness and fear can only be balanced if something is done about it. The fear of flooding is always present and we get very severe storms over here, but why are there no flooding prevention efforts, such as moats, water flow directional channels or any other methods being implemented.

Well, I am not the only one that got wet.
351.JPG

To lose all of of one's possessions in a flood will never result in happiness when the news of yet another storm arrives.
Only when something realistic gets done about it can one balance the two, as there will always be risks in life.

And That's All Friends.

Note: All photos are my own and taken with a Canon Powershot SX60HS Bridge camera

We hope that you have enjoyed the story and the pictures.

Heavy rains of late always bring devastation with them, perhaps it's time proper planning to capture water is implemented, even around our homes into tanks.

Glad to see the rains are arriving, way better than the drought years, Oh it was hot here again today 31 C, possible rain on Monday perhaps coming up the coast.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Clearing up this morning and the sun crept out of the clouds now. We were really awash last night.
Millions of liters of water spilling into the sea and sadly all of our water retention engineers are sitting at home un-employed.

As long as race takes prescedence over survival, we are set for many morse disasters my friend.
The decisions at the top really rankles at times.

Hope that your Sunday will be good.

!LUV to all.

Most our engineers sitting in comfy position across the waters in lands far, far away. Alas a great void needs to be urgently filled when it comes to people with right credentials to start filling positions.

Back to cleaning beaches were all the shit floats into the sea once again, poor marine life has to contend with this disgraceful behaviour as well.

"Comme ci, comme ça"....

Julian was one of the best engineers that I ever worked with at Eskom my friend and I worked with many. But they are all gone and the biggest mistake ever made was that they were set free without training any new incumbents. Now we sit with Bach se gelag.

One has to know the tricks of the trade and here there are many tricks that the foreign imported Cuban engineers do not have a clue about. So, prepare yourself for the excrement to continue the flow into the sea.

It's always amazing to see storm clouds form and rolling in. They are dramatic, sometimes frightening and amazing beautiful formations at the same time, just as the ones you are showing, Zac.

I can fully understand the fear that they might bring flooding though and don't think that the people in the lower lying townships might feel any happiness when they see dark clouds rolling in.

Good morning Hannes,

Yes thank you and I love to get out there when I know that a storm is coming. The clouds that are shaped by the strong winds always amaze me and I find real unworldly beauty in them.
The waiting period of nature for the water to come is also so great.

Can you believe that a lightning bolt killed 18 Elephants?
They most have stood close together in the rain.
I heard it on the radio and will go and look for the report in today's newspaper.

Oh yes, we feel for those people Hannes.
They come in here from the other provinces that are poorer, hoping for a better life and they build hundreds of shacks in the low lying areas. Many times even on unsafe ground and others close to rivers.
So when a river floods, it takes everything with it to the ocean.
Such is life here my friend.

May you guys have a great Sunday.

Cheers and thanks.

Good morning Zac,

yeah, you have told me about these people and how other people make money by selling or renting them these places - very bad thing.

18 elephants? I wouldn't have thought that a lightning could even kill one single elephant.

I wish you also a wonderful Sunday, my friends from the south 🤗🌞

Hi Hannes, I have been chatting to you for about an hour and only now you say Good Morning 🤣

Yes, you are right as we have discussed it before 👍

A lightning bolt can explode any elephant my friend. Just imagine the force that instantly splits a tree with a 2 meter trunk in half. So strong that it can even melt one of the high power cable electrical towers. I haven't found the story yet, as was a bit busy today, but I will contact the radio station tomorrow to get the source.

Raining now here again and the cold has arrived, but thankfully our morning was almost clear.
Hope that your day was good my friend in the north 🙏

Cheers and thanks.

Oh, but I replied 7 hours ago and only now you read it 🤣

I don't want to imagine that - elephants are great animals and I don't want to see an exploded one.

Our day was a bit cold and windy, but it didn't rain again. I have been editing photos and was quite lazy - I have had a nice Sunday 😁

Hahaha, age does that for one my friend 🤣 I see thatv this one was a day ago, so now I have to think myself into yesterday, even if I forgot what I did this morning.

No, I cannot trace that story about the elephants and it might be a hoax I hope.

We had our first dry day and a bit cold at 17C but at least it was dry. Will stay dry until Thursday when we have received a 100% storm warning again.
Glad that your weather was also not too bad and that you had a good Sunday.

Cheers and thanks.

Yeah, it sounds like a hoax, because so many elephants hit by one lightning seems really unbelievable.

Yes, my friend, the Sunday was quite nice, but today we had lots of rain. It is dry now, but quite cold at 15 C.
The rest of the week will be rainy, says the weatherman.

The guy announced it on the radio so it must have some sort of substance. He comes at 3pm and we will send him an SMS to get the source.

Seems like you were right as we share the same weather. Dry and cold today and things will start to change tomorrow afternoon, as the new storm is expected on Thursday.
As soon as it is over, we will reload the clouds with water and send them to Austria 🤣

Stay dry my friend.

Cheers and thanks.

Please send nomore clouds to Austria. They are taking a short break today, but it's quite cold here. We want to see the sun and not gray clouds 🌞😎

I will try to stay dry, but maybe I'll get a little wet in the afternoon because they say that the next clouds are already forming 🌧️

Okay, so this reply is a bit longer and I am happy 🤣

Sorry, you asked too late as I have already sent the clouds my friend.
Once they are on their way, "there's no turning back" I heard these words in a song somewhere 🤣

Hope that your day will be good, as I am spending my morning with your colleagues here in the Cape.

Cheers and thanks.

Good morning Zac,

well, they have arrived in the evening and let a lot of water fall down on us, and it's still falling 🌧️

So you are visiting some goats today 🤣

Good evening Hannes,

Gues what? I thought that I did all of your replies last night. In my mind it is Wednesday today and Marian just told me that today is Thursday. Lately I continue to lose a day here and there and I don't know why.

Water is always a blessing my driend as it's goin to make your seasons beautiful.

So now you call your colleagues (Police officers) goats???🤣
I spent the morning with the police spekesperson at a charity my friend and she is definitely not a goat. If I dare to call her a goat, she will slap the bangles on me 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Good morning Zac,

never mind, I have been quite tired yesterday and have been glad that I didn't have any work to do in the evening 😂 lol

It's Friday and I think I have to start my weekend a little bit earlier - our hot water boiler is broken and I have to go home as soon as the plumber calls me.

Hm, sometimes they sound like goats ;) but you are right, if I called one of my co-workers "hey little goatie, come here", she wouldn't come, or if she would come I would have to run 🤣

Good evening Hannes,

I thought that we have greeted already?
Never mind about what? I see that you have now copied my first reply as all of a sudden you also have geyser problems 🤣 Not really as just teasing you. 🤣
What a strange co-incidence and I just showed Marian now that you also have geyser troubles.
You had to wait for a plumber and I have mine switched off, never to be used again, though they still charge me for it's electricity consumption, even though it is no longer working, even though ....

Marian says that our electric spirits are connected 🤣

Hahaha, what a great way to put it and I had to laugh at just the sound of "hey, little goatie, come here" 🤣
You will have to pack your hiking boots away and buy some expensive running shoes for your new occupation of out running little angry goaties 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Good morning Zac,

yes, and I have also greeted you today 😉
"Never mind" because of the replies you thought you had already made...

Well, it's really a coincidence, but my problem is solved - I have told you about it in another reply.
If there's no consumption - how canthey charge you. Maybe it's a kind of basic fee like we have it here. Even if we turned everything off we would still pay these fees, just for being connected.

Haha, that's why I would never call them that way - I was a very good runner when I was younger, but my joints don't like running anymore, so I prefer to be polite to the girls 😁

Hi Hannes, yes, we have also again greeted today 😜

Regarding the electricity charges, yes, they send us an account and the standard service fee is stated on the account. The extra charges are for electricity usage which we have now disputed.

They did not come to read the meters, so they have done an "estimated" usage charge.
In other words they thumb sucked how much more electricity we would use and they doubled it as it is now winter. Everyone uses more electricity during winter to stay warm, but not us.

Obviously they also didn't know that the geyser is now disconnected. So let's see what their answer will be.

Yes, one has to be careful with the tongue, as who wants a bunch of very angry ladies chasing him, with his creaking joints down the main street of a town for all to see. Sacriledge! 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

We had to read the meters ourselves and tell them. If one forgot to tell them they estimated it too. Now the meters are online and they can look them up themselves.

I think they just need to come and see that the numbers haven't changed.

Most times I think before I talk, at least since I don't drink anymore 🤣
