Life at the sea.

Some different views here about life at the sea.

At first I will show you this guy sucking shrimps out of the surf to use as fish bait.

So wonderful to see how life at sea is so different to normal city life and an escape to the ocean is always worth it. Many of us can only visit the ocean over short periods and we cannot see the deeper side of life at the ocean. Yet others live close to the sea and they visit the beach on a daily basis. This post is for those that live far away from the seas.

First he shoves the pipe into the sand and then pulls on a cross bar at the top of the pipe that is attached to a rod and a rubber suction ring inside the pipe. Then he pumps the load of sand out to see if it contains any shrimps.

Now for another topic. Feeding of the birds. This guy cleans the fish that the anglers and the boats bring in and collects the fish innards in a bucket. He then brings the bucket down the boat ramp at specified times every day and although the birds have no watches, they all gather when the times for feeding arrives.

And of course Gulls are scavengers and as usual they fight each other for the food.

This guy was late and he came rushing past to join the feeding frenzy.

Now what would a sea post be without a white bird and the blue sky?

Finally, I have many photos of the Terns on the rocks that are far away in the ocean. They stick to themselves and don't mix with the gulls and they also catch their own live fish in the breakers.

We haven't seen the Kingfishers around lately, as they will only return when the nesting season is over. During winter all of the migrant birds are gone and only the endemic South African birds remain.
I have posted many of the migrant birds here before, and when Spring season arrives during late August, the migrants will all come back.
Then it will be a busy camera time again to greet old friends.

And That's All Friends!

White bird on blue sky - the classic shot - nice 😊

I have never heard ot this way of collecting shrimps, but it must work very well - interesting. Also interesting and new to me is, that the fishermen actually go and feed the birds. Maybe when they do so, the birds will disturb them less at work ;)

!BEER and !WINE - both make a nice dinner with !PIZZA :)

Good early afternoon Hannes,

We just arrived home now before the rain and I have to do my post first.

But as I opened the PC, I saw that Austria was in the news.
A man went to sit on his porcelain throne and a snake bit him on the family jewels 🤣
Go and check this out.

Good afternoon to you too, my friend :)

Hahaha, I have heard of a lot escaped snakes, but I haven't read these news - nice surprise 🤣 Poor snake - just imagine you're swimming relaxed, stick your head out of the water and you see ... above you, and then something falls on your head. I would dive again, but the snake probably was curious and wanted to taste the deep hanging breakfast eggs 😂

!PIZZA and !BEER - sounds like a nice dinner :)

Hahaha, they don't say where that snake bit him but I think that the snake thought that he saw another small snake and just wanted to warn him. To protect it's territory you know 🤣
The snake was scared that the small snake would try to steal his two breakfast eggs as you said 🤣

Cheers and thanks.
