I am still struggling to make decent photos of the small birds with the kit lens. I tried to get as close as possible and today I was sort of lucky to capture the thrush.

Possibly because the bird was busy singing, this must be the so called song thrush, I first shot through the bare branches of the bush unnoticed. When I went round I got just single shot and the thrush flew away.

Another one was hiding in this pine trees.

Thrush is one of the first birds coming back in spring time. Their songs sometimes are mistaken with the nightingale songs, but thrush is louder and likes to show himself.

It is easy to spot them on the ground, because there they are looking for food.

Well, I said easy, but they can be blending with the ground and one can miss seeing them.

Yesterday I saw magpie nest. In fact I have seen their nests before, but without the birds. They are high, almost on the top of the trees.

Speaking of nests, this neat hole must belong to the woodpecker.

And this one, perhaps.

Hooded crows are regular in the neighbourhood. Often I can see a bird carries a nut. They are so clever and they know how to crack the nut.

Or, just perching on a fence.

Of course, the crow did not stand still for long.

It is fascinating to watch how everything is coming back to life and I am looking forward to seeing more migratory birds coming from the South.

I love this time of the year, although we had mild winter and the feeling is not quite the same. Each season brings something new. The winter wasn't white, but rather greyish. Now the colours are back. Trees are dressed and you can feel the sweet fragrance of their blossoms.
