Flower therapy

Flowers - they always make our day brighter.

When the winter comes, technically it is still autumn, but we have the first snow, the photos of flowers taken in sunny day can make the difference. Or, at least I hope so.

This flower is called Balfour's touch-me-not, Kashmir balsam or poor man's orchid.
I found it in a small garden near a shop in our neighborhood
Three common names and I wonder why it is called as such. Let's find out, shall we?

It originates in Himalayas and Kashmir and hence the name Kashnir balsam.
Balfour was a Scottish botanist. Touch-me-not might refer to the fact that if you touch it, the flower will burst and scatter its seeds.

And why it is poor man's orchid? Not quite sure, I assume it is because it is not an orchid, although it looks like. And most likely this is a flower affordable by anyone. Probably a name was given in the past.

My favourite roses come next. I prefer the pink roses, although any other will do to make you feel better. Flower therapy.

Humble dandelion. Maybe not very attractive considering how it grows like weed. However, every time I take a closer look, I find it beautiful enough.

And here we have a plant with so many names according to the Wikipedia -
Clematis virginiana, also known as devil's darning needles, devil's hair, love vine, traveller's joy, virgin's bower, Virginia virgin's bower, wild hops and woodbine.
So many names for one plant. Note to myself - not to forget to photograph it in spring time. It will look completely different.

I have started this post some days ago and before I finish it, it snowed again. Early in the morning heading to the office I stopped by the roses. I have only the phone camera and regret for not taking my Canon camera with me. Look at that fresh snow on the petals. Isn't it cool?

And that's all for now. Hope you enjoyed viewing my photos and they make you feel a bit better.
