Growing through the rocks

I've been trying to grow things in recent months, such as vegetables and green plants, with limited success. One thing that I haven't tried to grow is flowers. As much as I like flowers, I mean who doesn't like pretty things, I never wanted to grow them as I think they look awfully beautiful when the bloom, but when the flowers die, the contrast is just too great. I don't think I can handle seeing something that I nurtured and then wither away and die.

That being said, it never ceases to amaze me where I see wildflowers appear, even in urban areas. This collection of purple, yellow and pink (?) flowers can all be found along the same road nearby where I live.

These photos were taken over a month ago when it was still summer. I wonder if the flowers are still there?
