En esta oportunidad comparto con ustedes dos fotos de una mariposa muy grande. La vi al final de la tarde en un pequeño arbusto que tengo al frente de la casa. Normalmente no uso flash para este tipo de tomas pero ese día había muy poca iluminación. La mariposa estuvo posando muy tranquila durante todo el rato que tardé en hacer las fotos. Esta especie suele ser muy tranquila, pasan largo tiempo en el mismo lugar; hay que espantarlas muy fuerte para que ellas decidan irse. En ocasiones se pegan de la malla protectora de las ventanas y pueden estar allí un día entero.

In this opportunity I share with you two pictures of a very big butterfly. I saw it at the end of the afternoon in a small bush in front of the house. Normally I don't use flash for this type of shots but that day there was very little light. The butterfly was posing very calmly the whole time it took me to take the pictures. This species is usually very quiet, they spend a lot of time in the same place; you have to scare them very hard for them to decide to leave. Sometimes they stick to the protective mesh of the windows and can stay there a whole day.

En estos tiempos ha disminuido la población de mariposas, años atrás se veían mucho más. No sé si tendrá que ver con el aumento de las aves, porque esas sí han aumentado mucho, ahora llegan una variedad de aves que no había visto. También a comienzo de año tuvimos fuertes incendios de vegetación. Me imagino que todo eso contribuye a que ahora tengamos menos mariposas en mi zona.

In these times the population of butterflies has diminished, years ago they were seen much more. I don't know if it has to do with the increase in birds, because those have increased a lot. Also at the beginning of the year we had strong vegetation fires. I imagine that all of this contributes to the fact that now we have fewer butterflies in my area.
