These species of ants are dedicated mainly to the cultivation of mushrooms and that is why they need leaves of plants for this purpose. But they also have other tasks; cleaning the nest, feeding the young, protecting the nest and taking care of the queen ant.
These ants are different from many others because of their great size in comparison to other ants, because of a huge head that is proportionally bigger than the rest of the body; it has two antennas, two huge tweezers and in the porter part of the head two thorns giving it a diabolic aspect, then a bisegmented thorax-abdomen with 3-4 thorns at the back of the thorax. and according to the work that is going to fulfill the ant, usually they are polymorphous; they vary of size, the workers usually are but small, the soldiers are but great and the ant but great of all it is the queen arriving to measure 25 mm.
