Hello Nature Lovers !

ANTJ4.jpg

I would like to cordially invite you to another great week of the Amazing Nature Contest. There were already so many excellent entries regarding how amazing nature can be in the past episodes, thanks to all of you, but there is still so much more to see! ^^ To participate in the #amazingnature contests just create a post that shows how amazing nature is for you personally. This can be anything from a beautiful flower or animal to an astonishing sunset.

What is the Purpose of the Contest ?

I am a huge lover of nature and really enjoy to take pictures of all the lovely things that surround me every day, no matter if those are plants, animals or landscapes. I found Hive to be a brilliant place to find and watch nature pictures from all over the world. There is such a diversity of great content out there, thanks to all of you, from different perspectives and out of various motivations. I would like to collect all those beautiful snapshots and their amazing stories in a weekly compilation so that you can all benefit from the beauty that we are facing all the time, but so often are not able to appreciate in the modern and fast paced times we are living in.

This #amazingnature contest is at home in the DNA-Discord, a organization run by people for the people, with the aim to foster and densify nature-appreciation in the blockchain. DNA is also the home of the #featheredfriends hosted by amazing @melinda010100 🦢 and the @fungilovers hosted by @qwerrie 🍄.

Contest Rules :

  • Please join the Community and POST your entry INTO the AMAZING NATURE COMMUNITY. This makes it a part of it and visible to all other members of the community. You can add the #amazingnature TAG after it if you like.
  • CLEARLY MENTION that your post is an ENTRY for this contest.
  • All pictures have to be your own. You can use the amazing nature banner if you like or create your own.
  • STATE IN THE TEXT why those pictures are representing YOUR AMAZING NATURE. This is an ESSENTIAL part of this contest.
  • Drop the LINK to your post IN THE COMMENTS. You can add a picture if you like. It is NECESSARY as I have to post a link in Discord on Friday, 5 days later, for voting and also for my own compiling purposes.
  • The entry window is open for ~ 5 DAYS. Watch out for the -CLOSED in the title.

If you miss the entry, please wait for the next round. As I have to work and also a family to manage, there are no fixed UTC times and the window can open in a wide range between 10 am - 10 pm and therfore also close accordingly ^^

  • The AMAZING NATURE COMMUNITY is there FOR ALL POSTS ABOUT THE AMAZING NATURE AROUND YOU that are not necessarily a contest entry. We would highly appreciate it if you share your great nature content there with us! .. But the contest is also located in this community as an integrated part and special feature .. You can also still use the #amazingnature tag if you like.

Possible Topics :

As nature covers an incredible wide range there is really anything possible. Amazing Natures categories could be anything from the following topics:

  • Botany
  • Zoology
  • Geology
  • Landscapes
  • Philosophy
  • ... Surprise us ^^

AmNa.jpg

Prizes to Win :

  • 1st : 3 HIVE
  • 2st : 2 HIVE
  • 3st : 1 HIVE

I will always try my best to link and present all participants of Amazing Nature in the entries section of the announcement posts that will be published roughly one week later on Sunday (depending on my time schedule this may shift some time ^^). This way you will have a nice compilation of them all. As an special feature, the new title picture of the contest will be created from the entry of the contest winner. This time it is from @joanstewart.

How are the Winners chosen ?

The voting for the winners will be done by the whole DNA community. Therefore we created a special contest channel in the DNA Discord (Amazing Nature Contest). Here I will post the announcement post including the winners (Announcements) EACH SUNDAY together with all your entries (Entries) EACH FRIDAY. Every member of DNA will be able to assign "voting emojies" under the entries for 24 HOURS and in the end those three with the most of them are the lucky winners. This I hope should lead to a more objective consideration than just involving myself as a judge. I will engage as a judge in case of a draw ^^

THIS WEEKS WINNERS

The winner of this weeks contest is @joanstewart for her entry about the "Charaxes varanes", the pearl emperor. This butterfly can be found in the region from Saudi Arabia to South Africa, with a wingspan from 65 mm to 90 mm. This little fellows can use nature to their advantage, as once the wings close up the butterfly is brilliantly camouflaged appearing like a dying leaf on the limb of the tree. But as amazing this is, even with open wings this butterfly is a special guy as the inner side of the wings have a great white/creamy color, which is also the reason for its naming. Thank you for sharing this little camouflage expert with us ;)

@joanstewart

For @dannewtwon, the most amazing thing about nature is its ability to always surprise him. While on a trip to Norfolk for Butterfly hunting he unexpectedly took a boat tour and the driver took them across the water to a small bird hide which was usually inaccessible to the public. There he spotted these cute Advocets, a species he never seen before and as the weather conditions at the moment were just right there was the perfect chance to take these amazing wildlife photos from a scenery that he never thought to witness on that day. Thank you so much for sharing your personal amazing nature with us. Nature for sure has many suprises for these of us,who are willing to experience her on her best ^^

This post here from @bigsambucca is a compilation of the beautiful green area parks that he visited in Bankok during the last three months. Thus the post is just stuffed with soo many amazing pictures! One aspect of these parks that he found is that there is a huge amount of friendly Monitor Lizards just roaming around there. The Monitor Lizards are feeling at ease and comfortable. Some of them a realy hard to spot as the y are camouflaging themselves in the duckweed.Thank you very much for this great tour through the park are of Bankok ^^

DNA - Densifying Nature-Appreciation :

IMG_20200208_120948.png

DNA is an organization, managed by @medro-martin, to foster and DENSIFY NATURE-APPRECIATION which aims to establish REPORTS OF BIODIVERSITY DATA that is contributed by all of us Hiveans and subsequently cataloged.

Therefore DNA searches for HIGH-QUALITY posts that aim to DESCRIBE and determine the BIODIVERSITY AROUND YOU with added EXPLANATIONS and INFORMATIONS. For these informative posts they offer a CURATION SERVICE using the @dna.org account. It is also a CURATION TRAIL. Just add the #dna TAG if you think that any of your posts is what they are looking for.

At the moment DNA is also the home of the #amazingnature for all your post about the amazing nature all around us and also the home of the #featheredfriends hosted by the lovely @melinda010100 🦢 for all you great posts about our feathered friends and the #fungifriday hosted by the amazing @qwerrie 🍄 for all your posts about fungi and mushrooms ^^ But we hope that more nature related communities will join, or maybe some Hiveans start their own little project there ;) .. Maybe even you?

The Terminal & Discord :

There is another initiative here on Hive that I would like to bring close to you as I absolutely love them, The Terminal:

THE TERMINAL DISCORD

It is a great location for LEARNING ABOUT STEEM, Discord, and Hive-related communities, full of nice people that you may ask if you need ASSISTANCE, with nearly everything ^^ You will find documents to assist you, a place to learn and practice, and find out about the many opportunities to form CONNECTIONS with other Hiveans.

It also host the REDFISH RALLY, a funny challenge for all those that are new here to the world of Steem. The Terminal also hosts the HEYHAVEYAMET project by @heyhaveyamet, which introduces all new Hiveans on a daily basis, so that you don't have to search for them ^^

THE TERMINAL COMMUNITY

So why not joining us in the THE TERMINAL DISCORD? You will not regret it ^^

Hehe, it really is ^^ .. You wont believe how glad I am that I do not have to choose from them alone anymore since the open voting, hehe .. It always felt weird as there were always so many, not easily comparable, entries there .. But DNA members are doing an amazing job there .. Thanks @bucipuci ;)

When the competition grows, it is always better to let the "jury" vote and only in case of indecision to enter the vote :-).
You are welcome :-)

Here is my entry for this weeks competition:
https://peakd.com/hive-127788/@dannewton/there-is-more-to-nature-photography-than-just-taking-photos

It was longer than I expected, but I wanted to talk about the importance in identifying the nature we see around us, and making sure it gets recorded properly, so that local organisations can keep track of the wildlife in their area, and mange the land accordingly.

Thanks @adalger, as you can tell this is my passion, there will be more posts in the future talking about how and when to record animals. As much as I enjoy taking pretty pictures, I love the the idea of learning and sharing knowledge. The more we know, the more we understand, the more we are able to appreciate the world around us. And therefore the more likely we are to look after and protect it.

Hey there @juanbg ^^ I actually never looked into this DAO proposals in more detail, but I took a quick look already on what this link shows. I have to do it again more properly as it is stuffed with many information, but it looks great already .. I totally agree in preserving nature, I really like rather detailed quality posts and the idea to tackle problems in a quite scientific way, as I am also a nature loving scientist, also not marine biology, but rather astrochemistry ^^ .. What I can actually do to help you is featuring you in the next announcement post in the "Feature" section. I can also add a link to your proposal in it with a short description. But for that, if you wish it, I would like to ask you for a short description of the project by yourself that I can add there .. just a few words would do it ^^ .. Also you can have a look into the chapter here for "DNA- Densifying Nature-Appreciation". I believe that you would really love it there and may find its aims and goals quite attractive. You could even start your own little project there if you want to, like a Marine community or similiar ;) .. So what do you think of it ?

Wow @adalger thank you very much for considering all this, I am very grateful to you.
Of course I am willing to write a short description of my project for the "Feature" section. What are the conditions for this description?

Similarly, I will take a look at "DNA- Densifying Nature-Appreciation" I understand that it will be in the "Feature" section

Thank you very much and I am at your service! 😃

Hey there @juanbg ^^

Just a short description that I can put together with the link of your project, like a very short abstract maybe, including the most important details. You can just add it here as a comment and I will add it on my next contest announcement post under the "Feature" section on Sunday. Normally I feature nature-interested Hiveans there, but your idea would fit there perfectly .. I could also write up something by myself, but I think that your own words are far better for this purpose ;)

The DNA discord is kind of a place where several nature related groups, communities and people joined in with the common goal to "Densify Nature-Appreciation" on the blockchain. Amazing Nature, Feathered Friends and Fungi Lovers communities are all located there. It is still very new and in its "Beginnings", but grows steadily. So far we have no one interested in-depth into marine biology, which would be an amazing addition !! .. If you want to create something like a community for this, it would be really great too, but only if you are interested in such a thing ^^

Best regards,
Adalger

Once again thank you very much @adalger, this would be the summary:

"A proposal for science: our ocean needs us"

Hive people can support science. Science can do publicity to @Hive
Hive people can support science in a country where education is not primordial.

Hello everyone, I'm a marine biologist from Mexico🐬, Master in science student.
The research I have done during the master is entitled "Age and growth of the bottlenose common dolphin(Tursiops truncatus) and the Bottlenose dolphin of the Indo-Pacific (Tursiops aduncus)", the latter species is known very little. It means that this work represents new information at the INTERNATIONAL LEVEL, making this type of project known should be a priority for our country, but this does not happen in this way.

Trouble:
In the last six-year term of the current president in Mexico, we have had a significant reduction in the budget and support for science and the conservation of our natural resources. Many people who dedicated their lives to science and conservation have lost their jobs.

I received a notice in my email that would undoubtedly be a great step and the opportunity to publicize my study at other levels: my work had been accepted for presentation at the meeting of the Mexican Society of Marine Mastozoology (SOMEMMA, for its acronym in Spanish), but in my country they have denied me the support to spread this work

Hive proposal:
My proposal is this: collect 25 HBD per day, until 19 of August of 2021 (60 days) and would have enough time to rigorously prepare the exhibition of the study and make the appropriate arrangements to SOMEMMA meeting.
the presentation of the work at the SOMEMMA meeting would present the @Hive community (the logo would be projected) as a fundamental part to publicize the research. The possible benefits of this: THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY COULD KNOW AND IN CASE JOIN HIVE TO SHARE SCIENTIFIC AND QUALITY CONTENT, and other publicity benefits. You can read the complete proposal in the next links:

You can vote for my proposal here:
