Amazing Nature Contest - August 2020 - #04 - CLOSED

in Amazing Nature5 months ago (edited)

Hello Nature Lovers !

I would like to cordially invite you to another great week of the Amazing Nature Contest. There were already so many excellent entries regarding how amazing nature can be in the past episodes, thanks to all of you, but there is still so much more to see! ^^ To participate in the #amazingnature contests just create a post that shows how amazing nature is for you personally. This can be anything from a beautiful flower or animal to an astonishing sunset.

What is the Purpose of the Contest ?

I am a huge lover of nature and really enjoy taking pictures of all the lovely things that surround me every day, no matter if plants, animals or landscapes. I found Hive to be a brilliant place to find and watch, read and learn about nature from all over the world. There is such a diversity of great content, thanks to all of you, from different perspectives and out of various motivations. I would like to collect all those beautiful snapshots and their amazing stories in a weekly compilation so that you can all benefit from the beauty that we are facing all the time, but so often are not able to appreciate in the modern and fast paced times we are living in.

#amazingnature is at home in the DNA-Discord, a organization run by people for the people, with the aim to foster and densify nature-appreciation in the blockchain. DNA is also the home of the #featheredfriends hosted by amazing @melinda010100 🦢 and the @fungilovers hosted by @qwerrie 🍄.

Contest Rules :

  • Please POST your entry INTO the AMAZING NATURE COMMUNITY. You use the #amazingnature TAG whenever you like to ^^
  • CLEARLY MENTION that your post is an ENTRY for this contest.
  • All pictures have to be your own. You can use the amazing nature banner if you like or create your own.
  • STATE IN THE TEXT why those pictures are representing YOUR AMAZING NATURE. This is an ESSENTIAL part of this contest.
  • Drop the LINK to your post IN THE COMMENTS. You can add a picture if you like. It is NECESSARY as I have to post a link in Discord on Friday, 5 days later for voting and also for my own compiling purposes.
  • The entry window is open for ~ 5 DAYS. Watch out for the -CLOSED in the title.

If you miss the entry, please wait for the next round. As I have to work and also a family to manage, there are no fixed UTC times and the window can open in a wide range between 10 am - 10 pm and therefore also close accordingly ^^

  • The AMAZING NATURE COMMUNITY is there FOR ALL POSTS ABOUT THE AMAZING NATURE AROUND YOU that are not necessarily a contest entry. We would highly appreciate it if you share your great nature content there with us! .. The contest is also located there as an integrated part and special feature ^^

Possible Topics :

As nature covers an incredible wide range there is really anything possible. Amazing Natures categories could be anything from the following topics:

  • Botany
  • Zoology
  • Geology
  • Landscapes
  • Philosophy
  • ... Surprise us ^^

Prizes to Win :

  • 1st : 3 HIVE
  • 2st : 2 HIVE
  • 3st : 1 HIVE

I will always try my best to present all participants in the entries section of the announcement posts that will be published roughly one week later on Sunday (depending on my time schedule this may shift sometimes ^^). This way you will have a nice compilation of them all. As an special feature, the new title picture of the contest will be created from the entry of the contest winner. This time it is from @haastrecht.

How are the Winners chosen ?

The voting for the winners will be done by the whole DNA community. Therefore we created a special contest channel in the DNA Discord (Amazing Nature Contest). Here I will post the announcement post including the winners (Announcements) EACH SUNDAY together with all your entries (Entries) EACH FRIDAY. Every member of DNA will be able to assign "voting emojis" under the entries for 24 HOURS. In the end those three with the most of them are the lucky winners. This should lead to a more objective consideration than just involving myself as a judge, but I will engage as a judge in case of a draw ^^

The winner of this weeks contest is @haastrecht. This excellent dutch photographer shows us how amazing the colors are that nature can produce. He was wandering through the heather fields nearby during the time close to sunset to captures these amazing purple beauties for us ^^ Thank you very much for sharing them with us ;)

The entry from @joanstewart is about the Blue-throated Agama (Acanthocercus Atricollis). The "Bloukop" is not poisonous and quite relaxed when realizing no threat or danger is appearance. It possesses an extremely good sight and will run for the first tree to avoid dangerous encounters, and once running they pick up a good speed. This kind of lizards eat ants and millipedes which makes them unique in the lizard world, and they have sticky mucous glands on the tip of the tongue which make excellent tools for collecting ants. They also tend to leap into the air occasionally for moths, beetles and flies. Males will fight for domination over females and territory. Females blend more into nature, camouflaged similar to the males, but without the flashing blue color for attracting females. They can lay up to 11 eggs on average .. "Earth's mating arena males have learned to use color to attract love in nature! Females camouflaged for protection blend in quietly watching, choosing the right partner to ensure the species survive." .. Thank you very much for this great and super informative post ^^ .. and if you are interested in more details about this beautiful little guy, just look up the entry ;)

Here we have the entry from @bold-n-italics about a young tree/plant that was drying out. During some day she saw a Gardner still watering the dried tree every day and he told that it’s not dead and that it will grow baby leaves from the bottom again with time. After some weeks she then found little leaves that were growing at the bottom of the shoot. This really left her fascinated and once again shows us how many beautiful miracles natures is offering to us out there that are still to discovered ^^ .. Thank you for your entry ;)

This weeks Feature is about @friendlymoose. This Hiveans is still super fresh here to the Hiveansphere, but already shows a really nice blog full of great nature photography ^^ In his very first post he already showed us so many nice captures of how amazing nature can be, including beautiful landscapes, close up bird photography and even some fungi ;) He recently joined the DNA family and I am expecting so much more great content to be seen on his blog ^^

DNA - Densifying Nature-Appreciation :

DNA is an organization to foster and DENSIFY NATURE-APPRECIATION which aims to establish REPORTS OF BIODIVERSITY DATA that is contributed by all of us Hiveans and subsequently cataloged.

Therefore DNA searches for HIGH-QUALITY posts that aim to DESCRIBE and determine the BIODIVERSITY AROUND YOU with added EXPLANATIONS and INFORMATION. For these informative posts they offer a CURATION SERVICE using the account. It is also a CURATION TRAIL. Just add the #dna TAG if you think that any of your posts is what they are looking for.

At the moment DNA is also the home of the #amazingnature for all your post about the amazing nature all around us and also the home of the #featheredfriends hosted by the lovely @melinda010100 🦢 for all you great posts about our feathered friends and the #fungifriday hosted by the amazing @qwerrie 🍄 for all your posts about fungi and mushrooms ^^ But we hope that more nature related communities will join, or maybe some Hiveans start their own little project there ;) .. Maybe even you?

If you are INTERESTED in DNA, please do not hesitate to ask about it, or directly JOIN US in the DNA DISCORD ;)

"By The People, For The People"

The Terminal & Discord :

There is another initiative here on Hive that I would like to bring close to you as I absolutely love them, The Terminal:

It is a great location for LEARNING ABOUT HIVE, Discord, and Hive-related communities, full of nice people that you may ask if you need ASSISTANCE, with nearly everything ^^ You will find documents to assist you, a place to learn and practice, and find out about the many opportunities to form CONNECTIONS with other Hiveans.

It host the REDFISH RALLY, a funny challenge for all those that are new here to the world of Hive. The Terminal also hosts the HEYHAVEYAMET project by @heyhaveyamet, which introduces all new Hiveans on a daily basis, so that you don't have to search for them ^^

So why not joining us in the THE TERMINAL DISCORD? You will not regret it ^^

Hi there Nature Lovers out there !

Congratulation to the winners of this week : @haastrecht, @joanstewart and @bold-n-italics ^^ .. This week was a really good one and as always there were some amazing entries amongst them. Thank you all for constantly surprising me with such amazing posts and for the great support in the voting ;)

It is also the second week now that we are in the OCD Community Incubation program and we managed to get some of your posts from the community to get upvoted by them for proper appreciation of your awesome work .. Thank you so much OCD Team for doing this amazing service for the whole Hive Community !!! .. by the way, if you have any suggestion how to improve the usage of the Incubation Program, just leave a suggestion here or write me a PM.

This said, I wish you all an amazing week ahead and enjoy the beautiful nature around you wherever you are ^^

Best wishes,

Congratulations to all the winners.
Such beautiful photography, interesting nature, for sure.

Thank you for the entry about the flowers from the undergrowth ^^

Hi @adalger am back with these lovely Cactuses all the way from Arizona 😊

Beautiful Cactuses in Sedona , Arizona.

Hey there Moderator Team !

@kaminchan @nelinoeva @bucipuci @joanstewart @annephilbrick @porters @seadbeady @redheadpei @papilloncharity !

As you already noticed, the Amazing nature Community was granted a place in the "OCD Community Incubation Program". This also means, next to being able to forward some excellent posts from the community to them, that I received a delegation of 1300HP .. Now I have a question to all of you: Do you want to get access to the Hive-127788 account to use it for active curating? If so, I could ask them to re-delegate it to it, so that you can log into it and use it. Or do you prefer to use you own account as it was until now? In this case I will keep the delegation on my account and go on with curating as I did until now.

Independent on how you are deciding, there is another curation-offer to you ^^ Within the DNA project we are also curating from the account, which is also a curation trail. Is anyone of you interested to be granted a curator position there? This would mean that you are allowed to drop nature posts in the DNA-Curation-Channel that then will be automatically curated by the project account .. I actually really hope so, hehe ^^

Let me hear out your suggestions and ideas !

Best wishes,

Hey there Moderator Team ^^

So far I got messages from @nelinoeva and @annephilbrick regarding the use of delegation and the curation-service .. It seems that in the future I will keep the OCD delegation to my account and use it for active curating within the AN community. Actually I will try to focus more on curating and the contest now than on blogging, as I already did the last months already ^^ .. Both of the amazing ladies will be granted Curator-Role in the DNA Discord server and will be allowed to Curate within the AN community in the name of DNA ^^ .. As the ANC is an integrated part of DNA, this hopefully raises awareness and growth of the project and helps to appreciate some Hiveans work in here ;) .. Also they can curate nature content outside the community whenever they find something nice! Still, if anyone else of you would like to be a curator, just drop a massage into the DNA Discord chat ! .. I hope you all like the idea and agree to this ^^ ..There is something else I wanted to mention. I would like to introduce a new Moderator to the AN Team, @juanbg. If you have some time, please look up his blog. He is a Marine Scientist with a really nice blog that for me seem to be suited perfectly and I would like to hear out your opinion on this ^^ .. If you have any more suggestions, questions or ideas please through them in at any time !

Best wishes,

Thank you @adalger, I want you to know that I am at the service of all and that in what I can help you I will do it. Also, I will be aware of the messages on Discord, thank you very much everyone!😁🐬

First of all congratulations for this big success of the Amazing Nature Community, you did great job to bring it to that level. It is awesome to have the support of the OCD! Maybe it is better that you keep the delegated HP.

I would like to be granted curator position from DNA though. I think I can be more helpful.

Congratulations @adalger! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :

You distributed more than 54000 upvotes. Your next target is to reach 55000 upvotes.

You can view your badges on your board and compare yourself to others in the Ranking
