The explicit deal you signed onto when you chose to not decline rewards on your post was that downvoting happens, mostly for reasons, not always good ones.
It is kinda a grab bag.
One fella downvotes this other fella everytime he posts.
I'm pretty sure it is opinion based.
He does it to somebody that gives us nothing.
No comments, no votes on comments.
Just posts with rewards not declined.
I'm not defending somebody that gives the community nothing but another way to pay him.
Biggest votes, downvotes, earners, all that.
I don't know why nobody has built a page that tracks these things, we had one for that other chain.

I'm real curious as to who is holding the top positions in those catagories.
The crab bucket can only level the playing field up to the point of no catching up.

Admittedly I'm new here and may not fully understand all the ins and outs of hive etiquette, but my post yesterday about downvotes & censorship is trending, so perhaps I have something to offer on the subject. I approached it from a different angle than yourself, but I believe my piece aligns with your understanding for the most part, since it acknowledges the 'crab bucket' inherent to every social structure, with Hive being no exception.
That said, I had no idea there were sites that track this kind of thing, but it makes sense, since the blockchain is open/transparent. I'd love to get a look at the data on that.
Anyway, definitely food for thought, thanks for posting! 🙏

LOL, well, still learning, and I appreciate the heads up.
At the same time, on any platform I've ever been on, reaching trending means that a decent number of the users have invested time to "click" on one's post, or otherwise engage with it, while ignoring many others, so I've always seen it as at least a soft-marker of positive traction/impact, and I believe I'll continue to do so unless given incontrovertible proof of the opposite. :)
I know little about this person, but she appears to be on hiatus?
Anyway, I believe you're a smart soul, and I've no doubt you read whatever you feel like whenever you feel like, which is an approach I applaud. If it happens to be something I've written, I'm honored, if not, all good. 🙏
