Walking On My Favorite Boulevard

Victory Path (Calea Victoriei)

I live on the outskirts. I like the quietness of these places but sometimes I miss the crowds of the city center (Bucharest). Then I start a walk to the center and invariably pass through my favorite boulevard, Calea Victoriei.

This boulevard with old buildings gives me an image of what Bucharest looks like a hundred years ago. Most of the buildings were built at the beginning of the last century. I like these old buildings, their architecture is inspired by the architecture of Paris, Bucharest was called Little Paris because of this.

Today I took the walk to see two new buildings, built in the last ten years. These are a contrast to the old ones and some highlight the others.

The first building is a hotel. I like that it is a glass building and so the sky and the clouds are reflected in it but most of all I like that the entrance to the hotel reproduces an old building. The National Theater building that was built on that site and was destroyed by bombing in World War II.

Another modern building on this old boulevard is the headquarters of a bank. A building that cost a lot but who can have this money? A bank, obviously. On the right you can see a little of an old building built in 1900, also a bank.

The new bank, the new era. Fortunately, some banks have not forgotten their role as patrons of the arts and support events such as Art-Safari, a major exhibition. Unfortunately I didn't have time to visit it.

A special magnolia completes this walk, an evergreen magnolia.

Also, for #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay.

The possibility to post a Picture A Day seems to me a good opportunity, the possibility to post as often as possible. I think is for the benefit of everyone and everyone.

It is known that every picture tells a story. We can tell a short story about a photo that means something to us.

This photo per day will give me the joy of searching and choosing and posting every day (of course, if possible).

I don't think I'll be able to limit myself to just one photo. Everywhere I go I usually take a lot of photos, especially with the smartphone because it is more comfortable and I can move faster so as not to lose an image that I find interesting. Especially street snapshots.

Thanks so much for sharing those beautiful photos there Dan, it is really interesting to see all of the other cities that I will probably never get to visit, but you're still on my list!

And isn't it great to get nice, 'clean' shots of the city without humans every where.

I look forward to seeing you next Wednesday for another tour somewhere. 😀

I just love to travel- usually physically- but these days, anyway I can, even if it is just virtual practice for the real thing when we can!

See you out walking again soon! 😀

City walks can always be picturesque reflections in buildings , old and new buildings you will always find a good story in the big city.

That is right. I like to alternate stories about my city, about the place where I live with memories from the few trips I made more recently and I have photos.
