Is October Too Late For Kale?

Well, Autumn has snuck up on me, and I still haven't seeded my kale. So, that begs the question: Is October too late to sow kale seeds? Two more days for me, and Fall will be officially here. I don't plant or anything; just waiting for the cooler weather.
