🍟"Of all the pleasures in life one of the most important is eating and eating is so tasty..." so begins the lyrics of a song by the group Guaco titled "A Comer"🍞.

Eating not only nourishes our body, it also nourishes our soul. When you eat a different dish you are not only tasting new flavors, you are also receiving the love of the person or people who prepared the dish and you are learning about a culture or way of preparation.

Let's do a quick exercise: Imagine the food you like the most, maybe it's a rich chocolate, or a delicious and creamy ice cream, maybe it's a hamburger with all the sauces, or better yet your imagination will take you to the most delicious dish, yes that same one, the one prepared by mom. Surely your salivary glands are activated, right? ... Eating is a delight, as well as preparing food. You want magic, go to the kitchen!

The above is just a preamble to my response to #LadiesofHive Community Contest #30, written by @silversaver888. Yes, you know it, today my post is written in response to the question:

What food have you never eaten but would really like to try?

I define myself as a food adventurer, I eat everything but stones!!!, although thinking about it, more than once I have eaten a stone that has gone camouflaged in black beans, so I rectify, I even eat stones!!!!

I come from a family whose grandparents were peasants who lived in a tiny village called Enciso in the Andean mountains of the Department of Santander, Colombia. Being peasants, guess what? ... they ate everything, especially what they grew, hunted or fished.

Among the culinary oddities that have been added to the catalog of foods consumed by this servant are: limpet meat, piranha, iguana, armadillo, turtle, deer, plantain shell stew, fried potato shell as a snack, among others that at the moment I do not remember ... sometimes I think they fed me snake, but they never told me!

Among all those foods there is one that my grandmother always talked about, but I never had the opportunity to try, it is a rarity, difficult to find and for that you must be in humid forests in rainy season: Culonas ants.

My grandma, she was a native

I tell you briefly, my grandmother grew up and lived in the Andean mountains of Colombia, until she was about 30 years old, when she moved to Venezuela. As I told you, to live they ate everything that nature gave them, so in search of the precious proteins, they had to eat whatever they could find.

In the rainy season, the so-called "hormigas culonas", also called "chicatanas", appeared, they are the future queen ants. They can be found in Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Guyana, Bolivia and Paraguay. If you want to know more about these ants click here

The thing is that my grandmother and her family used to collect them during the rainy season, then they took off their heads and legs, keeping only the abdomen, to which they put salt and put them to toast in wood stoves, obviously, where they lived there were no stoves like the ones we know in the cities.

According to my grandmother they were crunchy and delicious... I have always been curious. Sometimes I have been curious to try that food, maybe I don't like it, but maybe I do.

Being a rare and difficult to obtain food, its price per kilo can be around USD $ 40. In the page of the link I left above, apart from being a protein, they give them aphrodisiac properties, with low levels of saturated fats, antibacterial properties and help in the treatment of arthritis. This food is exported by Colombia to countries like Canada, England and Japan.

Well, after knowing its price in kilo, I think I should start saving some #hive, to give me that treat, the day I do it I will write you a post! The problem is that here in Venezuela it is difficult to find this product.

I would like to invite @emilycorvof and @leydil to participate in this great contest.

If you made it this far, thank you very much for taking the time to read me, I hope you liked it!

¿Qué comida no has comido nunca pero te gustaría mucho probar?

Saludos.
