Hoy una prima me comentó que quería usar la copita menstrual, que le ayudará a conseguir una, me pareció extraño pues podría decir que hace años vengo intentando adentrar a mis familiares y amigas cercanos en el mundo de la copa menstrual, de verdad que soy una especie de predicadora con el tema jajaja y la razón es simple: ¡Es lo mejor que me pudo pasar! 💃🏼
La razón por la que ella ahora si quiere empezar a usarla fue porque otra de mis primas siguió mi ejemplo y ahora es una #copitalovers y pues le comento acerca de su experiencia (lo que me hace pensar que yo no soy lo suficientemente convincente 🤭)

En seguida se me vino a la mente la idea de hacer un video explicando mi experiencia y todo lo que se acerca de la copa, pero por temas técnicos me resulta mas fácil escribir ahora. Así que vamos a adentrarnos un poco en este tema. 😎
(Tengo que dejar claro que esta es mi opinión desde mi experiencia personal y que no soy una profesional de la salud, así que solo pretendo iluminar un poco a quien necesite información acerca del tema o simplemente tenga curiosidad, estoy segura de que todos hemos escuchado aunque sea alguna vez acerca de ella.)
Right away the idea of making a video explaining my experience and everything about the cup came to my mind, but due to technical issues it's easier for me to write now. So let's dive a little bit into this topic. 😎
(I have to make it clear that this is my opinion from my personal experience and that I am not a health professional, so I only intend to enlighten a little bit to whoever needs information about the topic or is just curious, I'm sure we all have heard even once about it.)

¡Fácil! 🤭La copita menstrual es un recipiente reutilizable con forma de cono (copa) hecha de silicona médica o plástico quirúrgico que se introduce en la vagina para recoger el flujo durante la menstruación.
A primera impresión y para quienes llevan toda la vida usando toallas sanitarias o tampones parece algo muy extraño, de hecho mi mamá se quedo impactada cuando le hable de ella y con cara de susto me preguntó "¿No te hace daño?"
Por otro lado: “O sea, me estás diciendo que me tengo que poner eso allá adentro y luego sacarlo y la sangre ¡Wacala! Si amiga, pero relaje y siéntate. Vamos a evolucionar un poco (jajajaja)
Si, a diferencia de los tampones, la copita no absorbe sino que recoge, lo que quiere decir que podemos usarla incluso durante la noche, además puedes usarla por periodos de hasta 12 horas.

At first impression and for those who have been using sanitary pads or tampons all their lives it seems very strange, in fact my mom was shocked when I told her about it and with a frightened face she asked me "Doesn't it hurt you?"
On the other hand: "I mean, you're telling me that I have to put that in there and then take it out and the blood... Wacala! Yes my friend, but relax and sit down. Let's evolve a little (hahahaha).
Yes, unlike tampons, the cup does not absorb but collects, which means that we can use it even during the night, plus you can use it for periods of up to 12 hours.

Existen varias medidas, que van desde la S hasta la XL, acá en Venezuela he visto que venden tallas: S, M y L. Por lo general las tallas S, las usan adolescentes o chicas que no han tenido relaciones sexuales, las talla M las chicas hasta los 25 años (sin parto) y la talla L de 25 años en adelante o que ya hayan dado a luz por parto natural. Sin embargo, yo siempre recomiendo consultar con el ginecólogo, pues va a depender también del tamaño del cérvix y obviamente no todas las mujeres en esas edades comprendidas tienen las mismas medidas. Aquí les dejo una imagen para que tengas una idea.
There are several sizes, ranging from S to XL, here in Venezuela I have seen that they sell sizes: S, M and L. Usually the S sizes are used by teenagers or girls who have not had sexual intercourse, the M size for girls up to 25 years (without childbirth) and the L size from 25 years and older or who have already given birth by natural childbirth. Existen varias formas de introducir la copa, esto es un proceso personal y de cómo te sientas más cómoda, pues no todos los cuerpos son iguales y lo que a una le funciona para introducirla quizá a otras no. Mi recomendación es relajarse, se que en principio tan solo la idea de tener algo dentro parece descabellado, pero créeme que es cuestión de costumbre y de buscar la forma forma en la que te sientas mas cómoda.
Puedes plegar la copa en diversas formas: forma de V, forma de C, en espiral. Para ponerla la posiciones igual que con un tampón, dirigiéndose hacia atrás en dirección al coxis en lo que la sueltes ella automáticamente se abrirá y escucharás un ligero ¡Plop! La copita menstrual tiene dos agujeros en dos de sus lados, los cuales cumplen la función de hacer el efecto sellado, para que la copita se quede justo en su lugar. Para asegurarte que está bien ubicada lo que tienes que hacer es con tus dedos darle un pequeño giro.
There are several ways to insert the cup, this is a personal process and how you feel more comfortable, because not all bodies are the same and what works for one may not work for others. Para retirarla, tienes que (Otra vez) relajarte, Mantener la calma es fundamental, tienes que saber que dentro de nosotras no existe un agujero negro infinito donde nuestra copa caerá y se perderá para siempre, no, ella está ahí, juiciosa y cercana. Personalmente y mi truco desde el principio (hace ya un buen tiempo)es hacer un poquito de fuerza con mis músculos vaginales, para que baje un poco, hasta alcanzar el rabito y poco a poco tirar de él hasta alcanzar la base de la copita, lo que procede aquí es presionarla hasta deshacer el vacío y luego retirarla poco a poco. Se que se lee difícil, pero créeme que una vez le agarras el truco resulta la mejor opción para esos días del periodo.

Simple, la primera vez que la uses tienes que esterilizarla en agua hirviendo al igual que al finalizar tu ciclo menstrual, Yo te recomiendo que tengas un ollita especialmente para ella o si tienes la oportunidad de compararla con su vaso esterilizador el cual puedes usar en el microondas pues super genial, además de que puedes llevarlo contigo a donde vayas. Luego de que la vacíes durante tu periodo puedes lavarla bien solo con agua, o con agua y jabón siempre y cuando sea un jabón neutro, tienes que lavar tus manos también. Lo ideal es mantenerla dentro de su bolsa (casi todas vienen con una bolsa antipolvo) para así evitar que se llene de polvo.
La copa menstrual es una opción excelente si eres una mujer activa que siempre está ocupada y haciendo un montón de cosas, la verdad es que te facilita la vida por su comodidad y resistencia.

- Saludable: No reseca ni altera el ph de la vagina además, sin elementos tóxicos no irrita, es hipoalergénica y se adapta a tu anatomía. 💗
- Fiables: Están aprobadas por la FDA. ✅
- Comfortable: soft and flexible, it is not noticeable or uncomfortable. You can do sports, go to the beach and sleep with it without it being a problem or a limitation.🥰

La copita menstrual ha sido para mi una de las mejores decisiones que he tomado respecto a mi salud menstrual, no me ha hecho daño , ha hecho que mi vida durante esa parte del mes sea más cómoda y no he dejado de hacer nada que antes, me limitaba a hacer ¡Incluso ir a la playa o ir al gym! The menstrual cup has been for me one of the best decisions I have made regarding my menstrual health, it has not hurt me, it has made my life during that part of the month more comfortable and I have not stopped doing anything that before, I was limited to do, even going to the beach or going to the gym! This is my first time ever hearing of such a thing. Very good article and explanation. I can definitely see the advantages. Have you ever had a problem with leakage? That was always a concern during heavy flows. And both the ecological and economic impacts are huge. They probably don't want this information to get out in America - too much money to be made on the disposal products.
Hey! Leaks can be normal when you are a newbie, as the cup may not fit properly (you learn with practice and time). However, it is used by size, which you calculate by age and also by the size of your cervix. The exact measurement to your body will not allow spillage.
