Be The Flower That Grows Amongst The Thorns!

I went for another walk with Freya today, following the same track up the mountain. I like this walk, as it is away from any roads, so I know I will not run into the Policia Local . I love to walk upwards, rising higher and higher. Feeling my worries melt away with each step.

Walking in nature is such wonderful medicine. Connecting to our life source, bathing ourselves in the sights and sounds that soothe our whole being. Today I walked barefoot, letting my body release what it no longer needed back into the earth, all the while recharging myself with some much needed positive energy.

As I walked upwards, it felt like I might burst through the clouds. The rain continues here and the mountains are cloaked in them. I love how much the landscape can change, especially around this time of year. A constant reminder that change is inevitable and necessary for growth.

I walked to the same spot as I always do,taking in the beautiful scent of the wild thyme and rosemary. My hands automatically reaching out to stroke them as I pass, so as to release their aroma. This time round I also noticed some wild rocket growing, nestled in amongst some chamomile and dandelion's.

Each time I walk here there is another little surprise waiting to greet me, reminding me to walk slowly and observe that which surrounds. It is so quiet up here, there is no aircraft’s or vehicles in the distance, just me and Freya and the gentle breeze.

It was on my walk back that I noticed this beautiful solitary flower in amongst the thorns. There is a lot of wild asparagus here and once it matures it gets very woody and thorny. This beautiful flower, had found a way to grow amongst all those thorns.

It's delicate green stem, quiet a contrast to the grey wooden branches that enclose it. Yet even amongst these conditions, this flower stood strong and tall, dare I say because of these conditions it grew strong and tall. It's survival dependant on it being tough.

I have written before, about how nature offers us the opportunity to reflect and grow. How there are always examples out there that reflect what we are experiencing and that offer us great lessons, as long as we are willing to slow down and observe our surroundings. As long as we are open to learn.

So today I see this lone flower, this delicate flower that found it's way up amongst all the thorns, with so many obstacles in it's way. If you look at the photo above you can see how close it is to the grey branches, how it would have had to fight to have access to the sun. And yet it finds a way through.

Reminding me that no matter what lines ahead, no matter what obstacles lie in my way, as long as I stay focused, as long as I am determined, then I will continue to grow. I will get to where I want to go.

How very fitting for these times, when so many of us are feeling threaten and overrun. It is up to each one of us to decide, whether or not we choose to be the flower that grows amongst the thorns! Because in the end, we will come out stronger than before!

I have created a Patreon account so if anyone wishes to support me, please do, I will be sharing poetry and words of empowerment.

Beautiful! And how wonderful to be able to walk up in the mountains with the wild herbs!
It puzzled me that you say the wild asparagus grows woody and thorny - I have never seen the wild asparagus but the perennial that I plant in my garden to eat the tender shoots has soft kind of ferny tops. Is the wild stuff like the asparagus you would see in stores? Is it edible?

I love that analogy of the flower that pushes through the thorns and it is that determination we all can tap into to push through adversities and come through stronger!
Thanks for sharing!

it is so different to what we grow, you only have a small window in which to eat the very young shots before they go all wooden and they are hard to get to as well xx

YOU are the flower amongst the thorns, my dear. Thriving despite hardship, struggle and being a solo parent.

Gorgeous images highlighting so well that Mother Earth's magic is ours too - that we are one.

Not sure if you saw yesterday that I evergreened and crossposted one of your poems into The Ink Well community. 😘

Hugs from Thailand. x
