Covid Infected - Day 14, Finally!

Hello Friends!

Today is finally my last day of isolation. I was infected with covid on the 14th of April (1st day of symptoms) and since then I have been following the covid protocol of complete isolation and social distancing from my housemates.

So let me share my journey with you. The first symptom I observed was fever. It was not a chilling one. I just felt my body temperature was higher and when I checked my temperature, it read 99.7F. From there, I knew it was nothing but Covid so I immediately isolated myself from the rest of my family members. It was a moment full of fear and anxiety, how would I manage my child since we take his feed from me and requires me for a lot of other tasks; how would I manage cooking for the other members, what will they eat, and more so, if I will be all fine or not. The first night I remember was very anxious and tough.

Then as time passed, I started to settle in. My house help was very big support apart from my husband of course. They were able to manage well and I was also keeping fine other than a few more symptoms like cough, loss of smell, and taste. I kind of started enjoying the period since I was on rest and didn't have to do much. I was feeding my child with the mask on and was playing with him at a distance but his other task like bathing were being taken care off by others.

It was all cool till the 6th day when my maid woke me up in the morning saying that even she has observed a higher body temperature. It was then when I felt the ground beneath me has escaped suddenly. I apparently didn't know what to do and how I would manage everything now given I have a full-time job too.

The first thing I did was - inform my manager that I was going to be on leave for the next 5 days. Next, I asked my maid to isolate herself, gave her all the medicines, and took charge of myself. Luckily my sister stays nearby so she helped me with the food. I started handling my kid since there was no other option now. And I tried my best to keep a distance from him but he needed me for a lot of things that I could not let go of.

My husband was big-time support who handled the other household chores. Thankfully I didn't have any weakness or body ache and so i was up and running.

With every day passing, honestly, it was getting kind of difficult. I had been counting days since the 6th day when my house help also showed symptoms. It has been a roller coaster ride; managing a house with a 6-month child and then everyone says you don't have to exert. Was that even possible.

But I think I managed pretty well and sailed through this tough time. It's my 14th day of infection today and as per my doctor's advice, I can let go of the mask starting tomorrow and breathe freely. Although my house help is still in isolation getting off the mask is going to be big-time relief for sure. And how can I not mention, being able to hug my husband and baby again. I'm just waiting for this night to get over and things to return back to normal again.

And then the next milestone will be my house help finishing her 14 days and me getting my normal life back.

And I've got a lot of emotional support and blessing from my hive family which I am truly thankful for.

Guys, please be safe, stay at home with your loved ones. Becuase this time is really difficult.

Disaster is a small word my friend. The condition is so bad outside, everywhere it’s sad news.

Shouldn't COVID-1984 infections have respiratory symptoms? I feel like you may have just had a mild flu... but I'm glad you're feeling better either way.

Yes there are symptoms like congestion and shortness of breath. But luckily I didn’t have any. It wasn’t flu since I have loss of taste and smell since day 5 and till date too.

Brutal, but congratulations in some sense of the word. Things are really spiking in India quickly, seems like a strain that affects young and healthy people too, so scary. Now you've got some antibodies in your blood, so that's a good thing. Glad it wasn't too tough on you.
