Mud House & Diwali Celebration.

Who doesn't like to play with mud, especially during the childhood day. I remember, I used to play a lot. Especially during Diwali festival where we used to make a special home for the goddess. In fact it was a trend still continuing in many remote areas and villages.

While many would know Diwali as the festival of lights, where thousands of oil based lamps and electric bulbs illuminate the entire houses. There are many areas where, Diwali is celebrate bit different. Like making a mud house and placing the goddess and worship them on the the eve of Diwali.

Watching few of the kids making a mud house does throw me to some flashback memory of my days. It was a decade since I made any. But now I have a refresh memory this Diwali with some helping hand to make a three story house for the goddess. It was a temporary shelter still we made sure to decorate them with as much stiff as possible. We have the pebbles, plant leafs, sparkles star, mud and bricks.

It was the little effort of few kids at pur home which make this home possible. They were quite enthusiastic to make one and arrange few bricks from the neighborhood. Properly arranged at one corner of the courtyard.

We have mud , to make tge base and structure strong. Thin layers of mud were applied, all over the brick structure to give it a strong foundation. It was firmly applied all over the brick to cover the naked bricks and giving a perfect mud structure.

Everything was made with the bare hand. We made use of wooden ply to give a temporary shelter to make a ceiling. And thereby making a base of different storeys.

It took hardly 2 hrs to make such a beautiful home.

On the day of Dowali, we place the deity inside and lit up the Ghee lamp at the entrance. It is just like maki g a new home and placing a goddess within to bring prosperity and good luck.

We have everything ready to worship. All these preparation were done at the evening, right before we go for bursting crackers.

And finally after proper offering and conducting the basic rituals by own, we distribute the lrasad among ourself and then we went ahead for burning crackers and other enjoyment.

Having going through these practices after so long does give me a good feeling. It also allow me to revisit my own childhood and get the hand dirty with mud.

Peace
