50 Cent Mirror

A couple of days ago I wrote about the popular rapper 50 Cent endorsing Donald Trump in 50 Cent Endorsement. He has now retracted his support, supposedly after an ex-girlfriend "chewed him out"...

Now, I'm not going to say much here and refer you all to Vaush's video linked below, who does a great job at explaining the probable reasons for this about-face of Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. The reason why 50 Cent supported Trump in the first place has everything to do with class-solidarity; there's no greater solidarity to be found than that between the rich (and famous). Theirs is so tight that it supersedes any other solidarity, to the point that a millionaire African American would rather complain and bitch about taxes than show solidarity with his fellow African Americans, who are disproportionately represented in the lower income demographics, by paying those taxes that fund programs in support of the poor. I'd like to focus here on one part of 50 Cent's tweet in which he endorsed Trump, the part where he said: "I don't care if Trump doesn't like black people".

This is not only telling us of the class-solidarity I just mentioned, but also holds up a mirror to Trump supporters in general. They vehemently deny that Trump is a racist, and that the Republican Party nowadays is the party of racists; and here we have a black man who first endorses Trump under the caveat that he's fully aware of Trump's aversion to African Americans, but than retracts this endorsement after public backlash that reminded him of where he came from and what he talks about in his rap lyrics. The rich are still predominantly white males, and African Americans still suffer from that fact; white men, in both parties, have the money and the power, and the continuation of systemic racism is a bipartisan effort. That shouldn't distract from the fact that one of the parties has the support of white nationalists and the KKK; that's Trump's party. And Biden's proposal to raise taxes to 62% for incomes over 400,000 dollars per year would disadvantage only the relatively rich, not the poor to whom 50 Cent should have shown solidarity in the first place. The same goes for your average white Trump supporter; you should show solidarity with your fellow poor citizen, not to the white billionaire who doesn't give a damn about you, and who wants to cut the taxes for his class, the taxes that fund the programs you depend on.

I'll leave the rest to Vaush; he also explains how tax-brackets work, something I suspect a lot of people don't quite understand. It sounds like a lot, a 62% tax-rate, but it isn't nearly as "bad" as it sounds; the rich still get to keep most of their income, just like they did when the top marginal tax-rates were over 90% in the decades when America's economy was still booming and working for the middle and lower classes as well...
