This research work has been a very fulfilling one and l must say that it has already cleared up the integral idea behind migration.

THE DRIVING FORCE FOR MIGRATION

This is the last part of the thesis and l would start by outlining all the driving force for migration as projected by the first parts of this post. These driving force for migration are classified as;

- Economic Factors

This has proved to be the most obvious driving force for migration over the years. It is a factor that occurs when the economy of a country does not have what it take to create jobs for the citizens. Mostly, those that are working as can be seen in the case of Nigeria are often facing the downside of inflationary pressure, unfavourable working environment and issues of underemployment.

Unemployment and poverty often become the order of the day whenever the economy of a country appears to be dwindling. The last resort for those in such an economically unstable country is usually an attempt to migrate to other countries where the standard of living appears to be better.

- Education

Many people from across the world have been travelling to other countries to study for their Degree, Masters or Doctorate program. This has been a massive driving force for migration over the last two decades.

An in-depth look at why people from most African countries often choose to study abroad shows these result;

Firstly, it has been proven that it is easier to study abroad especially in European countries. The time frame for their course is flexible enough to enable students to take up part-time jobs while running their program.

Secondly, it is faster to run any academic program in a place where you won't be experiencing a series of strike action unlike what Nigerian students usually pass through. Many people that are studying for a 4 years program usually have it stretched beyond the normal course duration so, those that are well informed always opt to study outside their country.

Thirdly, there is a high chance of getting a fully paid sponsorship program which you can enrol on throughout your study duration especially in the Scandinavian countries. Trust me, many foreigners that are running their academic program outside their home country are relatively spending less than they would have ever been made to spend in their home country.

Lastly, getting a Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate certification from any Institution in Europe will in 9 out of 10 cases make you a better option in the face of human resource personnel. I know that this is a hurtful discovery but that is just it.

Are you thinking of migrating to another country to study?
Are you ready to experience the exposure that comes with studying in a cross-cultural setting?

Barni Homedon already made it clear that studying abroad is not an easy task because it presents a series of challenges. Just know that its reward is worth all the difficulties.

As you would expect, all the factors that drive migration are inexhaustible in any research work with this time duration. That notwithstanding, other factors that drive migration are;

  1. Natural Disaster

  2. Insecurity

  3. Health Challenges in the home country

  4. Personal Willingness to Migrate

THE EFFECTS OF MIGRATION

In as much as there are a lot of positives that can be derived from migrating to different countries of the world, it is worthy to note that the high rate of migration is currently having unintended effects.

After observing its effects closely, this research work will be projecting the dominant effects of migration. They are as follows;

1. Economic Effect of Migration

This is an area that affects both the host country and the country where migrants are flowing into. It has been noticed that in as much as the pressure of losing skilled workers usually leads to brain drain, it can also turn out to be an advantage for the host country in the long run.

This is because there would be reduced recurrent expenditure. Well, this is only possible if those in power are interested in channelling the finds into the right place.

On the part of the country that is receiving a high inflow of migrants, it can be very beneficial to their workforce and it has been noted that ex-pats are willing to settle for a lower reward for labour. This turns out to be a problem in the long run because it can threaten the employment ratio of the locals.

Other notable effects of migration are;

A high migration rate can heighten the rate at which diseases can be spread across different countries. A good example is a rate at which the Covid19 pandemic was spread across different continents.

Overcrowding and exposure to racial abuse are also some of the effects of migration that is currently taking place due to migration.
