Oby is a boy. He is 8 years old and the only male child of his father. He is the only treasure that his father has. His mother had died during his birth. He survived premature birth while his mother died instantly.
No doubt, his father Mazi Okafor is so proud and fond of him. This is so because it reminds him of his late wife and mother Nneka who was the most beautiful lady in the village of Omokuo.
There is an assumption that Nneka was a very stubborn lady whom in spite of being a daughter of a prominent chief in the village, she turned down all the suitors that came to seek her hand in marriage. She rather took delight in eloping with Mazi Okafor - the love of her life to an unknown village.
Nneka was already three months pregnant when she ran away from home. This made his father Chief Ikenna very sad and he disowned her instantly.
Nneka lived happily with Mazi at Elu village all through the time that she was pregnant until the day that she was to deliver her child. The process was tedious as she was unable to born through the normal process. Hence, when she lost her strength and karisma
to push. As such, the doctor recommended a CS which would cause a fortune.
His father was confused and didn't know what to do, hence, he ran back to seek financial help from Chief Ikenna - Nneka's father, but unfortunately he did not help.
This delay caused the death of Nneka who was left with no other option than to push harder to birth Oby. She gave up the ghost because she had given in all the strength she had just to birth the boy. What a sad end it was. Mazi wept uncontrollably and made up his mind to give Obi the best that he could and to keep him safe from harm.
