Good morning and evening to all the Teachers, Parents, Educators, Students, Pupils and all Learners around the globe. Today is Thursday, 12th May, 2020,

I feel really happy to welcome you to my blog and virtual class. Today I want to shift attention to one of the language skills which is speaking. The aim of this content is to help you learn, unlearn and or relearn new things in terms of the pronunciation of some words.

Background Information

Did you know that of the four language skills, speaking is the most used skill in the classroom for teaching?
Did you know that your'e most likely going to mispronounce any new word that you are you yet to discover except through the test?
Do you know that 20% of words in English Language Dictionary have Greek, French, Latin origin?
Did you know that once you learn the wrong pronunciation of a word, it is often time a bit difficult to unlearn and learn the correct pronunciation of words?

It is from this forgoing that I want to draw this lesson plan that will involve learners from 5-any age. Yeah, you are reading the right thing and I am not making any mistake. The truth is that this lesson doesn't really have age restriction. Hence, please feel free to read to the end and and your comments or ask questions where necessary.

Behavioural Objectives:

During ad by the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:

  1. Learn new words and or the regular ones.
  2. Understand the meaning of the words.
  3. pronounced the words the right way.

Note: Pronunciation is a noun and it means the way which a word is pronounced. Take not of the word pronounce.

Pronounce is a transitive verb and it is use to depict an official or formal declaration.

Sentence practice

  1. Mr. Nsikak understands the concept of pronounciation. (wrong)
Mr. Nsikak understands the concept of pronunciation. (correct)
Explanation Now if you are typing the two word, you would observe that your computer will underline the first on to be incorrect. Whereas the second one is correct and it is used in the right context.

Here, the word ACCESS which means a way of approaching or entering is often time confused with ASSESS. This can be avoided if the student practice this sentence.

  1. Christ death has given us access to God. (correct)
Christ death has given us ASSESS to God (wrong)

Evaluation

The teacher will provide more examples for the pupils.

Home work

Using an Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, do the following task:

  1. Write out the correct the spelling of the words.
  2. Look up for the meaning of the words.
  3. Write the correct transcription of the words.
  4. Use the words to make sentences.
