In this article, we will consider those that can be termed as beneficiaries of this special education.

The gifted and talented: The gifted and talented children are children who manifest or possess superior intelligence. They are actually described as "all-rounders" because they are superior to their mates in all subjects. They also tend to enjoy better or superior health conditions. Gifted children learn faster and can memorize and retain what they have learnt.

They acquire an enriched curriculum, challenging program and a highly motivated and intelligent teacher who has been trained to meet their needs if they are to enjoy their learning. They can easily be frustrated and take to delinquency if the school activities are not sufficiently challenging to them.

The mentally retarded: The mentally retarded children are those whose intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior fall far below that if average children. That means they are significantly below average in intelligence and behave in a manner considered by the society as inappropriate for children of the same age. The severe cases are often accompanied with physical deformities. Their learning involves the use of modified curriculum, tools, methods and specially trained teachers.

Behaviour disordered children: Behaviour disordered children are children who exhibit inappropriate behaviours which affects their learning. The inappropriate behaviours range from withdrawal to aggressive behaviours. Such behaviours usually have negative or adverse effects on the individual or others. The identification of the cause of the problem helps in deciding what method to use in over-coming it or reducing it's effects.

Learning disabled children: Learning disabled children are children that can be described as slow learners. They have difficulty in one or two areas of speech, attention, writing and arithmetic. The use of individualized educational programme has been found to be helpful in helping such children.

The physically and health impaired: The physically and health impaired children are those who have physical and health problems that are so severe that they are restricted in their normal interaction with their environment and may require special assistance for their normal human activities. A few examples are: paralysis, epilepsy, polio, cerebral palsy, asthma. Children with physical or health impairment may require medical care and environment restructuring to enable them meet their needs.

Teachers should endeavour to teach them with care and should never make them feel sad.
