Not all humans are born with perfect physical and mental, there are those who have flaws in the physical part, and also have a bad mental. This requires all of us to be fair and not look down on people with physical and mental conditions that are not perfect. Conditions like this must be considered by parents adding the education of their children, for non-discrimination and bullying for children with special needs.

Parents must introduce what disability is, and also teaches children how to behave, communicating, and making friends with children with disabilities, so they can grow wisely without looking down on others, especially people with disabilities. How do parents teach children to behave as I write:

  • Education about disability.

Providing education to children about disabilities is very important, so they don't do the bullying, discrimination, or look down on people with disabilities. Education provided to children can be practical as if there is a friend who has a physical disability so they have to use assistive devices such as wheelchairs, or walking sticks, or hearing aids. parents or teachers must tell the cause why they use the tool.

Teachers and parents can also invite children to visit extraordinary schools, or schools with students with special needs, to introduce them about disability, and also so that children have empathy. Providing education about disability can reduce the risk of harassment or bullying.

  • Teach children to empathize.
Having empathy is important, so that children can grow up with respect for their surroundings, like respecting friends with disabilities.

  • Give support
When children see and have friends with special needs, then tell him that they have the same rights as us. tell the child that disability is not a bad thing. Teach children to give support and let them play together.

Telling children about disabilities is indeed very easy, but it is difficult to get them to truly understand and appreciate persons with disabilities. This can be seen from the many children who often make people with disabilities as an object to joke, ridicule, bullying, and others.

So, it is very important to continue educating and introducing them about disability, do this as early as possible when our child is young, so they will get used to respecting and making friends with people with disabilities.
