Moral degeneration is a common phenomenon among youths.Truancy is a serious sociology problem that can lead to an emotional disturbance which may go deep into personal life and growth of growth of the child.
WHAT IS TRUANCY
Truancy the act of staying away from school without any good reasons or without permission.
According to Selina Ekpo,The student who plays truant is generally a very difficult, anxious and highly sensitive person who needs to escape from reality.
A truant will have low status in class and difficulties in relating with other people. If truancy is not properly taken care of might lead to problem for the truant, family and the society.With the problem of truancy our nation stands a chance of not producing leaders who are transparent and bright.
Lets see some factors that leads to truancy

•Negative perception about education
•Poor academic motivation
•Distance from home to school and vice versa

•Fear of being punished

•student might be drop out of school
•poor adult outcome
•Teenage pregnancy ,drug abuse and addictions
The effect above can be limited if school counsellors are alive to their primary duties by giving adequate counselling to the students on the dangers of truancy . That's a great need for schools to have counsellors.
Parent and guidance also has a role in limiting truancy by always always motivating and educating their children and ward on the need of education , knowing the companies their children keeps around and providing the necessary needs in school.
