Who is a teacher?

According to the dictionary a teacher is some one teaches, especially one employed in a school.
It can also be defined as a person who helps students to acquire knowledge, competence or virtue. Informally the role of teacher may be taken on by anyone. Like a colleague teaching another colleague on how to do something well or on how to carry out a task.

Qualities of a good teacher

Some qualities of a good teacher are listed below:-

1.Dressing.

First thing first a good teacher must be well dressed. You are addressed by the way you dress.
Several times I have experienced parent rating me so high because of my dressing.
Most student get so inspired by your dressing, once met a child that said she wants to be a teacher because of how I dress. You are a mirror to the learner, so dress well. Too much of make up is on call for, dress neatly and tidy. Long or colour hair is not acceptable. Make your hair moderate and neat too.

2.Expert communication skills.

A teacher must have a good communication skill, not just to his or her learners but also to his colleague at work.

3.Superior listening skills.

A good teacher must be a good listener, he should not be fast to talk, but rather fast in listening.

4.Deep knowledge and passion for their subject matter.

As a teacher if you do not have deep knowledge of the subject matter then you are fit to teach.
You cannot give what you do jot have. Apart from that you must love the subject or topic you are teacher.
That boils down to appreciating your profession, you will always be happy, no matter what.

5.The ability to build caring relationships with students.

When i see some teachers I wonder if they understand at all what they are doing. Some teachers are just to insensitive to the happenings in his or her school, environment or even class. A teacher must be caring, be concern about your learners situation, health etc. Some learners comes hungry to school, so its the place of the teacher to show notice and show care to the student concerned.
From doing that he or she is developing a Strong bond of love and trust between him and the learner.

6. Friendliness and approachability.

Another quality of a food teacher is friendliness, a good teacher must be able to make a friend out of the most hardest student.
Make friends with the learner, from there the learner will be able to confide in you without regret.
A good teacher must be approachable by the learners, colleagues and even the parent to the learner. A student should be able to approach you and talk to you about what is bothering him or her, you know most of the parents barely have time for them, so seeing you as their teacher they could as well take you as their father or mother.

Another most important thing is that a good teacher must know how to keep secret, you know some teachers have porous lips, so a student seeing this because definitely they are seeing the way we behave even to our fellow colleagues will decide not to confide in us.
Please never use what they tell you, against them, they might grow never to trust anyone.

Surprisingly they watch how we eat, how we talk or respond while making phone calls and all of sort, so let strive to be a good example. Most of them emulate so much from us.

7. Excellent preparation and organization skills.

You must organised your lesson well. You wouldn't want to be embarrassed in front of the learners, would you? So don't be a novice in your course of study, read wide. I also add that a good teacher must be a good researcher too. Some knowledge maybe archaic, so do some research, and by researching you will learn.

8. Strong work ethic.

A good teacher must be punctual to school, be meticulous, taking everything thing into consideration.
He or she must not be a clown that's cracking jokes always, he or she must be firm but not hard.
He or she must well behaved. Talk decently and mores so walk with pious.
Again a good teacher must make sure that his or her lesson note is up to date, not lazing around.

9. High expectations for all.

A good teacher should get ready to give out the best.
The best student, the best dressing skills, the best mode of conduct, everything best all be way.

Again to add to the qualities, this has always been my great burden.
No one will value this profession for us if you and I do not value it.
Most teachers make it look as if the profession is so bad. You see teachers telling their children never to think of being a teacher like them because there is no money in the profession, who told you so? If you aren't seeing money, then you are at fault, there is money in the teaching profession, its just that most of the country we come tend not to value the teaching profession, the government tend to employ any Tom dick and Harry to teach.

In the university I once attended if someone doesn't succeed in his or her course of study will be pushed to the education faculty, which is not supposed to be so, we the owners of the course makes if looks as if we are lacking. Promoting other professions whereas we make them.
Yes teachers makes the Medical Doctors, Engineers, Presidents, Governors, Lawyers and any other profession you can think of. So why do we fidget?

I know the money given to teachers might probably not be enough most times, but don't you think seeing the child you once taught become a President, Governor, or even a fellow Teacher like you is more rewarding.
To me I will be more fulfilled.
